HI Guys, I am doing a lot of travel in Economy and Prem Econ on Qantas over the next year so have joined the corp membership for QP (hopefully just hit gold before my renewal date). However i am going to have 2 internal flights within North America. LAX to Toronto and a flight from New York to SFO or Las Vegas i believe on AA.

I have been reading multiple forums some say you no longer have access if you fly economy and have QP to the AA lounges on these flights, others say you can talk your way in? Just wondering what your experiences are?

Qantas Club members have Access to Admirals Club lounges when flying AA. You are also entitled to a guest if flying with you.

This is incorrect. I used the AA lounges (Admirals Club) quite a lot over the last few weeks with a QP membership. LAX, SFO, NYC (EWR) included. Economy flights.

Enjoy your time in the US. :)

Well stop reading those fora that say you dont get access. You definitely still do.

Where did you read this?

And here's the reference information to back up what everyone has said.

Access to Partner airline lounges

In addition to Qantas Club lounges, you can relax in British Airways lounges^ (Terraces and Executive Club lounges) and American Airlines® Admirals Club lounges.

To access a partner airline lounge, simply present your Qantas Club card or Platinum or Gold Frequent Flyer card at check-in and again with your boarding pass at the lounge reception. You may also invite a guest. Note: both you and your guest must be travelling together and have onward travel that day on a flight marketed and operated by the partner airline whose lounge you wish to visit.***

^ View Qantas Club News for latest updates to British Airways Lounges in London Heathrow.
*** Marketed and operated means a flight operated by the same airline whose flight number appears on your ticket. Includes American Airlines® or British Airways operated flights with a 'QF' flight number on your ticket.
So in summary if you're a QP member, flying AA, on an AA flight number, you can access the Admirals Club. The class of travel or service type has zero bearing on access rights.

Whoever suggested otherwise is totally incorrect, and should be pointed to the above QF page.

Meanwhile, I know that there's been a few people who've got access to the BA lounge access matrix for staff - does anyone have a similar document/graphic from AA that their staff use for this purpose?

Secondly, can anyone clarify how this works in light of the newly inked QF/AA codeshare agreement? I would assume that flying AA but on a QF flight number would permit access?

Yes it does. Flying AA metal on a QF codeshare DOES permit access. No question.

Absolutely I can confirm AA Club Access, in DFW and LAX, I was granted access without any issues adn they gave me drink vouchers, as many as i wanted. The guy bheind the bar wouldn't take them either, he just kept feeding my alcohol.

hmmm, hopefully this also applies down in south america and in several BA clubs throughout Europe...
