Hi all,

Not sure whether this is the right place to post this but I have a Qantas club pass that expires at the end of June 2009 (I received the pass from my Qantas Amex card). I'm not planning to travel between now and the end of June. Is anyone who is planning to travel between these dates willing to swap the pass for one with a later expiry date?

Thanks :)

I assume this is the AMEX Gold card. I also think you get 2 each year. So You will have new ones to use soon. I would check that and donate them to someone on here or a family friend.

No that would be the Qantas Amex Premium card.

Donating the pass sounds like a good idea otherwise this thread along with these posts will disappear very soon....

I had one which was just about to expire and a kind staffer at a QP allowed me to swap it with another one which had just been handed in which did not expire for another 6 months ...

This is not really a commercial post.

IMHO is not a solicitation per se; it's a like for like swap as distinct for a request for a donation or cash transaction.
I tend to agree but if you read the last line from that sticky it is actually clear that posts soliciting to exchange items will not be permitted.

Commercial posts not permitted said:
Other posts to procure/offer/exhcange items will be removed and action for breach of rules may be taken against the member
Perhaps I am misinterpreting that statement....

Seems like the recent rule change needs to be amended to allow things like this. The rule is clear, but in this case I hardly see how it's right.

Can't imagine the OP will find someone willing to trade either way unfortunately.

I would have been willing to exchange QP passes if I had some spare ones on hand. I have exchanged in the past and would do so again, to help out a fellow AFFer.

I wonder if Qantas would want people to exchange Complimentary Qantas Club passes on open forums? And if you allow exchanges what is wrong with exchanging a QC Pass for Priority Club pass or even accepting money or some other trade?

It is possible and has happened a number of times. I helped someone on this forum recently with an exchange of QC passes.

This is about the only type of exchange that has been allowed/permitted to be published/requested on this forum in recent times.

I think the intent is to stop:
- selling items (any) for payment
AND
- stop exchanges in lieu of payment (eg. "I have bbq willing to swap for gas heater" or "I have flight to sydney, want to swap for flight to AKL" etc)

As a FF forum, and if it's not forbidden by QFF/QP's rules, then exchanges of expiring passes would, based on previous tolerance, seem to be acceptable as an "exception".

Perhaps mods/admin need to clarify the point for the pedantic (read: all members posting in this thread).:)

I think that if it is a like for like swap, e.g. QP for QP (different date) then it should be allowed.

Anything that strays from that path, e.g. QP for Priority Pass for example, should not be allowed.

Clarification

Swopping of Lounge passes (or anything else for that matter) is not permitted on AFF. This is clearly stated at
http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/com...ram/commercial-posts-not-permitted-17272.html

I understand that there may have been some confusion as the T&Cs didn't explicitly state that swopping was prohibited. I have now updated the T&Cs accordingly (The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community - FAQ: Posting Guidelines - What's not permitted).

Because of this confusion, we won't delete this particular thread. But, in future, similar such requests will be deleted.

Please note that if you have a pass which you can't make use of, you can donate it - ie. offer it for free. These posts are encouraged :)

Thanks for your understanding.

I'm now locking this thread.
