Hi all,

I've sussed out where to sit in Canberra and Sydney for the best signal. How about Melbourne?

The past 2 times i've been in the melb lounge, its been pretty full and my choice of seating has been limited. Both times the wireless internet signal was on low/dropping out constantly.

Where is the best place to sit to get at least a half decent signal?

Cheers

Look for the little inverted cones on the roof, and sit near them...

Can't recall where they are in MEL, but I think every lounge has them - ie, as Wireless has been fitted after the lounges were made, they didn't bother hiding the wireless devices.

i always find sitting up the end near the windows ( business lounge end) to give me full signal. Its never dropped out on me!

One the four visits of mine to MEL, I've never had a problem getting a signal anywhere in the lounge.

I normally hang out towards the front entrance near the windows as it's far enough away from the food/bar areas to be virtually devoid of traffic, thus nice and quiet.

I'm sure something has changed in the lounges of late. No matter where I sit in SYD or MEL I have signal issues. This includes the workbench/window area down by the J lounge in MEL, and various other places. Maybe I'm just cursed (I haven't changed laptops either, it's always worked fine in the past)

I'm sure that Telstra has made some changes to infrastructure there though. The way they're handling WDS/spanning on their wireless network is shocking:(

I generally just use my 3G Mobile Data card. Never use the included quota anyway, so might as well have a decent connection rather than share an AP and small pipe with all the high-bandwidth lounge surfers :p. The SIN FLounge WiFi is performing well this morning.
