Hi all,
just signed up to this forum having browsed it for a while,
So my question, We are flying to LAX on Friday have had allocated for months now, and thanks to a right place right time luncheon complaining about a particular flight , with a Qantas board member sitting behind me I have 4 qantas club passes to use,

My question is , as I can not find the information anywhere, am I able to use this pass for all that is a QC member for that flight, mainly talking about the increased luggage allowance and really only needing it on the return, We are on our honeymoon and the letter I got from them with the passes said they have noted our honeymoon on their system,

I looked on the website and can see the things being a QC member gets you but as we have been kindly given the passes do you think rather then waiting in the long check in line we could use the QC line ?

I think the pass entitles you to Lounge Access, none of the other entitlements ( luggage, priority) apply.
You could always ask at the airport I suppose.
Happy Honeymoon :)

Welcome to AFF pennywise!

The pass will just get you into the Qantas Club. I don't think it will get you into the Qantas club/business check in line. Doesn't hurt to try though!

To the best of my knowledge it should gain you entry to the Qantas club, and nothing else. :(

Nothing to stop you trying checkin via QP/J line or extra baggage, but it would be a bummer to be caught out (having to re-line up in Y queue, paying excess baggage charges), if, as I strongly suspect, QC entry is all it entitles you to.

Oh, and welcome to AFF! :)

yeah, i kind of figured that, and to be honest we are not really the scamming type people, and I didn't really even think that he would care , but to get something in the mail to make our the start and end of the honeymoon so much nicer, was just nice, even had his assistant call us a week later to ensure we got them.

It's good to see that they followed it up..
If you don't want to "scam" as such, just get to the airport early so you can check in as soon as you can.. then you can enjoy the lounge. Where are you flying off to?

We are flying to Los Angeles, we were due to go in Feb, so it is kind of belated, but several of both of our family homes were destroyed in the floods in QLD and whilst insured, their are only so many tradies etc to fix the the homes so we have had our families staying with us here in Adelaide so we just had to delay it a little bit,

No good about the homes..

Well as you are on an INT flight you can use the international business lounge. Enjoy the time there!

Try and get to the airport early and take advantage of the Qantas International Business Lounge.

Being an international lounge you can enjoy a few wines or whatever you want before the flight.

To my knowledge they only get you lounge access but none of the other QC benefits.

where about are you starting your trip? If its ADL consider not using the passes there as it's only a QP lounge. Save them for SYD / MEL / BNE as they give you international business lounge access (much nicer)

Save the other two for the return as LAX is not as nice as other international airports outside the lounges...

Enjoy...

Save the other two for the return as LAX is a wasteland outside the lounges...
Sorry to go off-topic and not meaning to be rude or nasty in any way but if I had never visited a lounge in my life I would be inclined to believe this statement. But I have visited LAX and many other airports without lounge access.

It cannot be further from the truth. I have yet to visit an airport where I could not spend any time outside the lounge. And believe me when I say I am more picky than most people. In fact many times I have actually sat in the terminal people watching rather than be in the lounge.

Now I did visit the BNE Qantas business lounge last night on my way to SYD and let's just say that it was not a pleasant experience for part of the time. Had something to eat and then went to the desktops. For around 15-20 minutes all I could hear was 'Haaarhh, haaarhh' every 10 seconds or so. No it was not a crow. It was in fact a Japanese bloke on the phone, at the top of his voice, to someone and it annoyed the hell out of me. Should I complain? Should I go? What do I do?

I did not want to listen to this cough in the BNE business lounge after a long week at work. But like a good little moron I put up with it and kept my mouth shut. I can imagine it would have been much more pleasant and civilised in the terminal....

100 times nicer, really?

I wouldn't rate BNE or SYD Intl Business Lounge any better than ADL QP.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I disagree with your advice, I'd save them for the Intl lounges as well but they've never appeared all that better than the best domestic QP (which in my mind is still ADL).

Good luck.
