Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.

If I renew my paid QP membership, then achieve SG during the term, what happens? Does my renewal date extend and if so for how long.

It gets put on hold in terms of the remaining time you have left until you no longer have complimentary access, I have had 5 months since 1998 on hold.

Thanks for that info, I thought that may have been the case.

You can't transfer the membership to someone else either which is a bit of a bummer, as I have 10 months membership on hold and it is unlikely that I will ever use it...

...and the worst bit is that when you finally make Lifetime Gold, you don't get any refund for the outstanding QC membership.

And if you manage to reach Lifetime Gold the "on hold" portion cannot be refunded :(. I have 18 months of a 2-year membership on hold for the rest of my life.

As has been said before, there is no guarantee that Gold status will continue to provide access to the QP.

The remaining decades of your life will certainly see big changes, and I would not be surprised in the least if lounge access were to become a paid-only (+/- class of service) proposition.

(That expectation also helps to make me feel less bad that I splashed out on a lifetime QP card but may never have much use for it!)
