QANTAS codeshare with LATAM. Whats offered? And advice on Argentina-Chile

Hi all
So with the freedom to plan we are looking to get to Buenos Aires in September. Departing from AKL and on the QF website we can go
AKL-SCL QF3877
SCL-EZE LA477 ( or maybe go to AES)

Once in BA, we are thinking about a bit more flying.
If we book through the Qantas website are the LA labelled flights all Qantas code shared and do we get points/sc for them?
If we travel codeshared do we get to use the LATAM lounges?

Is it better to fly into EZE or AEP? Same price to get there and EZE looks a better time of arrival.

Finally any tips. We only have around 2 weeks and will need to be in BA for about 5 days. We are thinking about visiting a few wineries, going up to Iguaco falls and stopping for a few days in SCL on way home.

Its so weird to be planning again. Off to the trip reports now

That's not correct (unless I misread your response) - you get SCs on QF marketed LA codeshares. Almost all QF marketed flights get SCs.

Lounge access - yes, if booked with QF flight numbers, you are Gold or higher (Qantas Club doesn't count), and only in the following airports: Buenos Aires, Bogota, Miami, Santiago, Sao Paulo.

Getting the whole thing on QF numbers - you'll just have to check. I actually can't see any QF flights from SCL-EZE or AEP, but I can see some to GRU. Probably best to call QF on that one.

For the record, I really liked SCL - I wouldn't spend a week there, but definitely worth a stop if you're passing through anyway - the scenery is amazing. Being the wealthiest city in the wealthiest country in Latin America sometimes it feels like you're in Sydney or Melbourne and everyone is speaking Spanish - which is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you're after.

If booked on one ticket, yes. The fare might charge a stopover fee.

For example, for SYD-SCL-GRU: (this also works ex AKL, I just did SYD out of habit but I confirmed with AKL as well)



As I stated upthread I can't see any codeshare flights for EZE/AEP. But if there were, the fare should allow it to be booked as a multi city like my GRU example above.

And just to be crystal clear, these flights all earn SCs even though LA is no longer oneworld.

I disagree . The falls on the Argentine side are much more extensive,. so are best viewed from the Brazilian side and the viewing is more compact (more-or-less all do-able on foot). The Argentine side is good for getting above the various falls, including the "Devil's Throat" and you'll need the shuttle train to get about.

We thoroughly enjoyed BA some years ago. Visiting Evita’s mausoleum was an interesting visit. We also spent a day crossing the river Plate and visiting Colonia Uruguay.

The plan is sort of taking shape. QF had a really good business sale on dates we wanted, so we booked part of the trip. I did ring QF helpdesk to discuss points etc, but I couldnt get a clear answer and he recommended book online or would be charged the help fee. Fair enough

Now we simply decide when to get to BA and Iguacu, accommodation, and covid travel requirements. A trip over the river to Uraguay sounds fun, but I haven't mustered the energy to even think about the logistics of what should be a simple excursion. I also need to make sure we can go from Argentina to Brazil in Iguacu and what is now required. A friend also mentioned a day trip to Paraguay while there.
I think I have cracked the Chilean covid requirements. At the moment it appears I need a " mobility pass" to get from SCL to CJC. I found the English version, discovered how to not require a Chilean ID number and entered our our NZ International covid certificate. It seems to be accepted, but it is only valid for 45 days or so. At least I know how to do it now, if they keep this in place.
Argentina requirements are next on the list
And while I have been thinking of this, I went to LATAM site to check the aircraft. I found this which is in English and easy to follow Mandatory health forms | LATAM Airlines

Its easy to fill a couple of days in Santiago - a city tour, a wine tour and trip up the coast. Some fab restaurants in Bella Vista.

If possible i recommend doing both the Brazilian and Argentinean sides of Iguazu. 1 night should allow a day each side. We flew from San Paolo to Iguazu, then back to BA.

Whilst i loved BA was very glad i had time in Patagonia (flew in and out of Calafate, but crossed into Chilean side and back by road) and also lakes district Bariloche being a favourite - there is an amazing chocolate shop calle Rapa Niue in Bariloche, they also have an outlet in BA, they do these fresh raspberries coated in 3 thin layers of white, milk and dark chocolate.

As post 4 above with a LA flight number will not get SC's If possible try to change to a QF codeshare (if available).

When I was at the falls was easy to cross the border. No passport stamps or visa or cost. Driver took passport into the border office. Not sure if used my NZ or AU passport . 100's of tourists cross the border every day. 2022 may be different.

I took the (AU built) ferry to Uraguay and flew back. No money exchange at the ferry port Uraguay side. May be different now.

If booked with a QF flight number it will earn QF points and SCs.

We flew AKL-SCL-CJC on a QF ticket. We got full points and SC on AKL-SCL. On the SCL-CJC we just got QF points
