A few months ago, Qantas sent me one of those "double your status points" emails, which I'm busy using.
Today, they've just allowed me to request an upgrade of a QF discount Y flight Sydney / Dallas to Business!!! Had to double check that my eyes weren't deceiving me. Of course, it's not confirmed until just before the flight, but still one can hope. Also, it seems that I can put in a request for the return flight.
Not sure what I've done to deserve these bonuses, but they are very gratefully accepted. I was dreading both flights, so it was real bonus. Next time, I'll definitely be travelling business class.
I've been with Qantas for many years, but because I lived Far Western NSW, couldn't do much flying. Now that I've retired, I'm able to travel, so perhaps it's my increased level of travel (including some business travel). This year, went from NB to Silver and hope to hit gold before my anniversary.
