That was not my experience at all. Maybe it is because I landed at a small regional airport like PER with limited international service (i.e. there's just one baggage carousel at PER INTL).
I am inclined to think so given how efficient and effective things are at Changi.
No rhyme or reason here so far as I can tell. For instance, I used the F check-in at LAX but my bag was only tagged as business (possibly because on J service was offered on my flight). Meanwhile here I check-in at MEL F and it gets a first tag slapped on. Like everything with Qantas it is consistently inconsistent. Heck, even if F check in at MEL is different from SYD international, in the sense that it is a separate check-in area whereas in SYD it's just a separate desk.
Which would have been great either. Frankly, I would not have minded to have it repaired at Perth either, but they never got back to me on what to do and on my last day in PER decided to just buy a new bag and claim it against Qantas when they do decide to get back. Why they are dragging their heels is beyond me, perhaps I need to follow up with higher ups at QF.
