Hello, does anyone have a contact that I can talk to about a dilemma I have with a Qantas FF booking Sydney-London via BKK July 2012 for the London olympics? I have received a blanket email saying my flight will have to be re-booked and 'don't call us, we'll call you' (I gather they are scapping the routes through Bangkok & HK). We only booked one way so that we could get Business/Premium Ec seats with our FF points and were planning to book and pay for our return flights prem economy as soon as available to book - this Fri 26th Aug. Now I don't know what to do!? I am worried if I don't book my return, all decent flights will be booked (as it is the Olympic Games!) but if I do book the returns and then have to cancel I will have to pay the extortionate cancellation fee. Without knowing whether Qantas can honour my original booking and re-book me on the outgoing leg, it seems risky to book my returns - incase I have to completely change my plans and book/pay for the whole journey. In short, if I don't get to speak to someone at Qantas this week to find out about my outgoing booking, it could potentially ruin my 'dream trip' completely! I have of course called the Qantas help desk but they said they had no info and I would just have to wait for a call... So does anyone have any contacts and/or suggestions of what to do? Any help will be very gratefully received:)

Welcome to AFF, you are worrying too much, QF will honour your booking, yo uwill just be on BA metal ex BKK, if thats not good enough for you I am sure they will let you change to a SIN flight.

There is no need to speak to management for something like this, if you ring the call centre they can help, but keep in mind the changes were only announced last week and it will take a few weeks for the timetable to be loaded and your bookings redone. There is no real loss of capacity on the route so there is nothing to be worried about.

My understanding is that they are going to either allow you to rebook on the BA service, or reroute through Singapore.

To echo Markis10 I wouldn't worry too much.

I'm in a similar position, I have a return LHR JASA flight via HKG in April and also a LHR-SYD BA J flight via BKK in April. So I am waiting for both QF and BA to contact me.

If you are luck you may finish up on a 380 via SIN, or worst case scenario you'll finish up on BA.

Thanks Markis10, much appreciated. At any other time I wouldn't worry, but mainly concerned about the amount of travellers to London for Olympics. Happy to hear that you think QF will honour the booking.

Where QF have made changes to my plans they have always been more flexible than normal to fix them!

Just as a follow up QF has changed my April 2012 JASA from QF29 to QF9. I received an email advising that my flights had changed. :)

Given the OP has booked one way in Business/Premium economy and intends to book the return in PE then one would hope they get re-routed through on QF metal and Flight numbers.

BA PE is not nearly as good a product as QF PE !

Will bear that in mind. Will let you know what Qantas come back with.

We have been changed onto A380 via Singapore. I think we got an extra speedy response as I sent an email on Sunday to Alan Joyce (overkill, I know, but I was worried...!). Actually, I just guessed at his email address so didn't expect to receive a reply. Am very impressed that my email got passed on and v swift action taken with 2 phone calls and a personal email back from Qantas staff to let me know that I had been re-routed. V Happy! :D

Good luck getting PE award seats on those dates from LHR. I have been trying for days to get PE LHR in late July and they were never offered. There was one PE seat available for a couple of days earlier, but when you go onto the flight details, even though they deducted PE points (96,000) the two sectors available were all in economy. And I was only wanting one seat but nothing was made available.

Thanks Pushka, yes I know, we were extremely lucky to get the OW Syd-LHR with points in the first place. Got the last 2 available I think: ideally wanted 2 x BS, but still v happy with 1 PE and 1 BS;). We are planning to pay for the OW LHR-Syd in PE so am hoping we will be okay!
