QANTAS Direct Earn Rewards Fee now $49.00 per MONTH

No doubt a mistake! But I was a bit surprised to see this in my on-line statement:

29 Apr 2011QANTAS DIRECT EARN REWARDS FEE AUD 49.00 Dr

31 Mar 2011QANTAS DIRECT EARN REWARDS FEE AUD 49.00 Dr

Bad enough that the annual fee jumped from $19.00 to $49.00! (an over 250% increase)

Of course Citi offered to reverse the second charge, while they investigate.

Maybe they forgot to charge you for the previous year? I saw something similar years ago when they forgot to charge the annual fee and then charged it twice within a couple of months.

From my April 2010 statement:

Mar 31 QANTAS Direct Earn Rewards Fee 19.00

So that's not it...

I had 2 fees in a 2 months charged at $49. Called up to complain as 1 month should be charged only. They advised its a error and will be reversed by the time the statement is issued.
