Hi Guys,

Looking at flight prices next year.

Seems MEL/BNE/SYD to PER have all gone up by $500. PER-SYD-PER is now $2014 each way, PER-BNE-PER is $2251 and PER-MEL-PER is the most affordable at $1970.

Current prices are all $500 less.

How the hell can Qantas justify an extra $500 for a J ticket, especially on a 767 or the silly A330 with the "workspace"??

Virgin is around $800 cheaper that Qantas PER-SYD-PER. Which makes it significantly cheaper for a return with a product that may be better than Qantas (depending on the a/c)

Personally i can't justify spending 4k return using my own $$ and sure can't see why Qantas think they can charge for a pretty cough product on some a/c.

It's like PER-BNE is 47,000 odd points on a JASA, KTA-PER-BNE in J is the same amount of points so will be doing that and get some value out of them!.

6k with Malaysia will get you Perth to London return in Business class through a travel agent so don't think I will be paying 4k to go to Sydney! I understand that's my choice but they should upgrade/standardise the product if they are upping the prices.

Quick question as well, if I was to book a red e deal MEL-PER how many points would it cost to upgrade and is it instant confirmation?

Cheers,

I believe thse prices are the prices for a ticket in the 'J' bucket now. There are other discounted J seats, which are probably what you are seeing for $500 less fares. Presumably none of these more discounted business seats are loaded for the dates you are looking at.

The $500 cheaper fares are loaded until the start of January then they are gone. I couldn't find any cheaper fares throughout 2012 after mid January. I guess it could be better to wait and see for prices then?

But basically the whole 2012 that's available for sale apart from some of January have the higher fares. Also the Flexi economy fare goes up by a little bit too, so thought it may have been an increase...but im most likely wrong lol

Cheers :)
