did a search but couldn't see what i was looking for.

Have just put my seat selection in for a PER-BNE flight on QANTAS in July. Clicked on an exit row seat just to see the cost (I don't plan on paying for one) and it didn't show an extra charge. Just said make sure you can lift the weight etc... So i confirmed that seat selection and still no request of payment.. Will QF request payment at check in? Or do status pax now receive domestic exit seats free? I didn't at all expect QF to be offering it to SG.. So my thoughts are they will want payment before check in? In which case i will go back to my other preference?

Could someone please confirm?

thanks gogo

There is no fee for domestic exit rows on Qantas, only international.

Domestic Exit row seats are free of charge for QF.

And I think only available for SG, WP, WP1 at time on booking. I think it opens up to everyone when OLCI.

Not correct. I have seen them available to both NB's and PS's well before T-80. Depends on the flight

It would depend on the aircraft to some extent, I guess. But the restrictions are due to zone limitations in seat selection based on status. This limitations change at T-80 and it might be possible to select an exit row between then and OLCI regardless of status.

Could also be for flights with low load factors, as CASA regulations state that there has to be someone in the exit rows to open the doors (in the unlikely event of an emergency). This would be a way of ensuring people sit there and not forcing people to move there.

As a PS, I've been able to nab exit row seats around the T-80 mark and that's been on very full flights.
(although on 737's I'm unable to select anything forwards of row 19 prior to T-80)

A good number of pax just don't care where they sit (I used to be one of them until I got a windowless window one flight), and will often just accept the position given to them with the only pref being window or aisle and upper deck \ lower deck.
