I booked a Qantas SYD-MEL flight yesterday in economy, and there is U class (Business Classic Reward) availability on this flight. (There is a connecting international flight on the same booking.)

The booking has been ticketed but when I went to request an upgrade, it hasn't confirmed and instead still shows as "requested". I tried cancelling and requesting the upgrade again, but it still hasn't worked.

Anyone know what's going on here?

I had a similar experience SIN-PER-SYD. The PER-SYD appears have been treated as Int also.

It shouldn't even allow upgrades to be requested then?

Why? You can put the points or bid upgrade requests in. They just don’t get processed until 7D thru to Gate.

I meant if the international fare rules did apply...

@Leigh744 was having similar issues late this week as well.

Both of the flights on my booking are eligible to request an upgrade on.
It’s not something generally I do. I was assuming this a long known limitation of mixing Dom<->Int on one booking - which would be very common for others?

Not sure. Last time I did this (before COVID) the domestic upgrade came through immediately.

Based on the thread @serfty linked above, it sounds like this may be a general problem for domestic QF upgrades at the moment and unrelated to the international flight on the same booking.

Hey Matt,

I've had some experience doing Qantas domestic upgrades using points and you are 100% correct here. If there is U availability on a domestic flight you should be able to confirm the upgrade right away. I've done this now on a couple of red e-deal flights booked this year including , SYD > CBR, SYD <> MEL. Now granted these upgrade requests were made between March and May this year.

One question I do have is how did you request the upgrade? Was it through the Qantas app or via the desktop site? So far I've done all my upgrade requests through the app and it worked flawlessly. In any event, I suspect the QFF call centre should be able to sort this one out for you!

I've tried using both the Qantas website and the app. It hasn't worked on either.

I don't really fancy calling QF to speak to someone who has no idea what they're talking about.
