Does anyone else find Qantas a bit rich in their booking fees and change of date/routing penalties?
Having failed to find a return award seat LAX/SYD last May, I ended up buying a return LAX/SYD as that was cheaper than a oneway fare. At that point I just nominated the latest date possible for the SYD/LAX sector as I was not even sure I could ever use it.
Now I find I can, Qantas want $250USD just to alter the date. Whilst I understand this is part of the stated fare conditions when booking and they would want to discourage last minute changes, my change is 10 months ahead and certainly wont suddenly affect their loadings etc.
I note VAustralia charge only $100USD for a similar fare change.

The oneway fare would probably have been a lot more flexible in changes etc ; the issue with booking restricted tickets is that they have restrictions. That the flight isn't for a long time doesn't really matter
