Hi all,

I usually pay to fly as it's work related travel - however I'm looking to go to the UK for about 10 days in October with my wife and want to use my Qantas FF points. I've got almost 500,000 and want to treat her to business class. Looking at the qantas website I can book BUT it then says in the small print that two legs are actually economy - and it's 256,000 points plus $1,000 in taxes. Asia Miles (Cathay) says 175,000 points return and BA say 200,000 points.

What is the best way to book and who with? any advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks
P

First call QFF and ask what they have, its said many seats are not shown on site, however, they will take about 6000? points for the booking by phone.

I was planning that if no other suggestions, thanks Limewood - ideally it would be great if someone knows how to get the flights on a different airline given the massive points differential!

Availability for business class redemptions on QF flights will likely be scarce. So I suggest calling QFF and paying the telephone booking fine, and ask for availability on CX fights. I find there is plenty of business class award availability on CX flights between Australia and Europe.

Are the points already in the QFF account or sitting somewhere else (like Amex)? If they're with QF already, you'll have to pay the QF rate even travelling on BA or CX metal.
