Qantas ff decline to award points for a qf flight to noumea

Last year I flew to Noumea on a QF flight. This flight was supposed to be with Air New Caledonia and booked as part of a package deal with a travel agency. However, on arrival the flight was with QANTAS using a QF flight number, QANTAS aircraft and staff. QANTAS have now declined to award points for this flight after I submitted a claim. Has anybody else experienced a similar problem and had success claiming points?

Aircalin and Qantas have a codeshare agreement. Looking at the Qantas site just now Aircalin is not listed as a partner airline though in the FF section.

So I would guess that your travel agent booked you via Aircalin on what was a codeshare flight where Qantas was the operator, but where Aircalin was the administrating airline. But as Aircalin does appear to be a FF partner airline it would mean no QFF points.

I am assuming that the OP purchased the flight with Aircarlin as the Marketing carrier. The fact that QF operated the flight is not relevant here as Aircarlin is not a partner airline to the QFF program, hence you weren't awarded any points for the flight.

Welcome aboard Rearne.

If the original ticket was booked as SB149 (or SB anything) it doesn't matter who operates the flight, SB are not a QF partner so no points or SC are awarded.

If it was ticketed as QF361 or similar then points /SC are earned.

Rearne, do you still have the original boarding pass and itinerary?

Valid question, as rules do vary across different programs as to how points can be accrued.

With Qantas, and oneworld programs, the general rule is that it is the marketing carrier that counts (which airline code is on the ticket) , irrespective of who operates the flight. So this explains why QF will not credit points for Air Calin marketed flights.

Not relevant to OP, but in some other programs (particularly star alliance), it is the operating carrier that counts, so it is possible to get points in the operating carriers program even when marketed (codeshare) by a non partner airline.

Apologies. I am misreading the details. Qantas operates the flights and AirCalin codeshares as opposed to AirCalin operating and Qantas codesharing.
