Guys

I have recently booked 6 US domestic flights with AA online, paid with an Australian CC and as informed by other members to put UK as place of residence... All went through without any issues.

I then called the Indian call centre to get my Qantas FF number to my booking. Two calls later they assure me they have added it to my booking,

My question is; will these flight be visible under My Bookings in my Qantas FF Profile online? As they are not showing up.

No, they will not be visible on QF web site.

If you have the Amadeus reference numbers you can look them up on checkmytrip.com, that will show what FF numbers are stored for the booking.

I'm about to book a few AA domestics too. I'm not 100% happy doing the dodgy UK address thing. Am I able to just put the seats "on hold" and call the callcentre to pay for it over the phone? Does it cost any extra to do so?

There will not be an Amadeus reference number for a booking of AA domestic flights on aa.com. It will only have a Sabre booking reference.

Yeah you can put on hold and pay later as long as you havn't used any discount codes with your booking and phone up within around 24 hours after the booking. Also, don't have any similar duplicate bookings on hold at the same time or the computer will cancel one of them!

Costs no extra if you call the Australian number, and your credit card will be charged in $A by AA Sydney. You'll receive a paper receipt in the mail in a few days.

You will most likely pay extra if you call the UK line, and possibly the US line.

There are the usual caveats talked about here that apply though. Know how everything about your address, the booking details, email address and your name is spoken in the NATO phonetics NATO phonetic alphabet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and be prepared to have to fill out a Credit Card authorisation form to fax back to Sydney should the purchase be over a certain amount (I believe $1000)

But can't QF give you their booking reference if you call them? I have booked RTW awards through AA and then called BA/QF for the booking reference to do the whole BA MMB thingo...

QF does not come into play in the scenario outlines in post #1. The OP purchased AA domestic flights on-line at AA.com. As such, QF's reservation system (Amadeus) will not have any visibility of the flights. There is no need for QF to know about the flight reservations. Just because AA will pass the flight details to Qantas Frequent Flyer after they have been completed, does not require Amadeus to have any knowledge of the reservation.

Your example of the ATW itinerary is very different. That included flights operated by QF and/or BA and so there was a booking reference in Amadeus for those flights. And in that case any connecting flights either side of the QF and BA flights will also have been passed to Amadeus as information segments so will have been visible. But again, this is not the case when the booking is only for an AA flight booked via aa.com.

Will there be two FF program memberships in the booking? My experience 2+ years ago on a platinum chalenge was that some points ended up in AA and some in QFF. Took months to sort that out.

I booked 2 one-way YUPs in July for travel in August. I am a member of AAdvantage but did not put my AA number in the booking, just made the booking as a guest and also paid with Australian credit card with UK as the country or residence.

Once bookings were confirmed I called AAIndia and quoted the booking references and inserted my Qantas FF number and my desired seating allocations. It is that simple even with the language barrier the whole process took no more than 10 minutes.

The flights credited to QF without any issues. Now if AA did not misplace my luggage for a week it would have been a much better trip....

Interesting, I've just been through these issues today and I hadn't even read the thread.

I booked twice using the UK method for the first time today with no problems. Etickets arrived within 30 minutes. I then rang the UK and asked them to enter my FF number (and change my name because I can't spell) and had no problems at all. The exchange rate worked out favourably going from US to UK to AUD today rather than straight US to AU.

I'm assured my number is in the booking but it doesn't appear in the QF My Bookings page as I'd expected as well. A call to QF and they can search and see my seat on the specific flight but they can't touch the actual reservation.

A check I employ always, is a day of two after having my QFF number entered is to call AA and ask them to read my FF# back to me.

More than once this has shown either no number entered or an improperly entered number.

Called AA India on Saturday to pay for the 2 reservations. Certainly wasn't easy, the line was very soft and the agent didn't have a very good grasp on the phonetic alphabet (S as in Sugar), but it appears to have been done.

Few issues, AA Syd is closed on Saturdays so my booking will be charged in Indian rupees, no big issue I guess. Also, I was told that once ticketed (that arvo), I'd receive an email. Well no emails, but I've logged in to check my reservation on AA.com, and the bookings say "TICKETED". Any big issue that the emails never came? (i'm guessing she took down my email address wrong).

If it is an eticket that is being issued, then "TICKETED" indicates that it hasn't actually been issued yet. Once issued, it should say "TICKETED - mm/dd/yy" ; for paper tickets "TICKETED" can mean that it is either ticketed or queued to be ticketed

I called IndiAA three times last week and asked them to email me the form to fax back to them - only got success when I got thorugh to the direct Oz number and they chased indiaa. Currently showing as ticketed but no date as I am faxing the form today (from hong kong).

The issue was that they did not know what to do with the eVIP(s) being applied... I am hoping they are still only applying one for the trip which is what was stated a few weeks ago. Journey is nrt-ord-jfk-lhr - which in theory could be either two or one eVIP
