Hi all - have a Westpac Altitude Rewards credit card (points redeemable for Krisflyer or Qantas FF points) and am also travelling to UK with Qantas next year. In 2010 I want to fly with my son to Seoul but when I look at Qantas website it only offers codeshare with Asiana out of Sydney (I'm in Geelong, near Melbourne). Will I be able to use QFF points for this flight?

Also - does anyone know whether the Westpac Altitude Rewards points expire? (I'm planning on saving them all up to use for 2010 flight/s). With thanks.

I'm pretty sure as long as it has a QF number you can redeem it for an award flight. I've done it with Air Pacific in the past.

Cheers,

Nick

I dont think you can redeem on the QF code on Asiana.

The same is true of Ait Tahiti Nui.

Whilst you will earn on the QF codeshare, it is only an earning relationship, not a redemption one.

You can use QF miles to fly with CX connecting through Hong Kong.

Thanks so much for responses. Good to know I can use QFF points on CX via Hong Kong - otherwise I thought I might just have to use points for Qantas flight Melbourne to Singapore return, and then pay for a flight with someone (Singapore Airlines??) Singapore - Seoul - Singapore. Does anyone know if this would be an option? And is a local travel agent able to book flights for me Singapore - Seoul - Singapore?

The CX option via Hongkong will take 102,500 pts QFF per person return (can't book CX online). Using Krisflyer points via Singapore, booked online you will require 68,000 pts for Melbourne-SIngapore-Seoul return. The other option maybe getting to Tokyo for 72,000 pts using Qantas or Jetstar and then purchasing a fare from there.

If your Krisflyer points will only get you as far as Singapore (46,750pts) there are travel agents (or the airlines themselves) that allow online bookings (Singapore Airlines certainly do, and I can't remember all the travel agents - but zuji does from their SIngapore website, and bestflights also do from an Australian website. Also note that you can get to Hongkong for the same number of Krisflyer miles as Singapore, so buying a fare from there to Seoul may also be an option.

And I haven't even looked into Seoul for Malaysian who are also a partner of Altitude, but that could also be an option.

Dajop - thanks so much for taking the time to look at those points for me. More options than I thought I'd have using points! And also - I hadn't realised Altitude Rewards can be used for Malaysian Airlines - I'll have to read stuff more carefully. I just saw that I can exchange Altitude Rewards for QFF points or Krisflyer points.

Will look at fares for Singapore-Seoul-Singapore, and Hong Kong-Seoul-Hong Kong. By flying into either of these two cities I can get there non-stop from Melbourne...but the Japan option might require that I travel via Sydney??
