I haven't flown out of SYD Intl for years, wondering if SYD has a dedicated First checkin, curb-side like they do in MEL?

I don't recall seeing a curbside last week when I travelled from SYD T1 but I didn't look too carefully.

There are dedicated First check-in desks, but I've found with the number of QFF platinums using it and therefore the long queues, it might be faster just to use the general-use kiosks, particularly if your checkin is uncomplicated (no special visa requirements etc).

No kerb-side for SYD, but I would also suggest using the kiosks, much faster and more efficient.
Any thoughts on how much a difference those "Business" or "First" cardboard tags make on your bag tags, given you don't get them when self-tagging your bags?

I tagged my bags myself at Haneda recently, and the JAL agent at the bag drop actually de-stuck my tags to insert the "oneworld Business" cardboard tag, then stick it back together on every one of my bags.

Absolutely zero. Barcode contains the information needed when getting sorted. But as you know 'business' is printed on the tag anyway, the actual extra tag really means nothing.

You can have a Y class bag with no status and the tag gets put on, it will still be in the Y class container.

Thanks for clearing that up. Only wanted to use it as I’m taking my elderly parents to NZ and thought it would be easier for them and me. I’ll use the dedicated first suite near counter D if it’s still operating

Based on recent experience at SYD arrivals from the US...the priority tag means my bag gets special treatment by selectively being one of the last ones to arrive on the belt. Usually leaving plenty of room from any other bags..

It was closed when I was checking to QF81 the other day. The J queue wasn't too long however.

When I flew F LAX-SYD last month, I didn't get any tags, just the printed label, and when I asked she said they aren't needed anymore.

My bags actually did come in the first 20% of bags in SYD, so must have worked.

Lucky bugger..Like Priority boarding, I'm certain Priority Baggage is just a PR stunt by QF.

Thanks for the reply

My last few international arrivals in to SYD have seen my bags come out pretty quick, and vice versa arriving in other countries, sometimes they are tagged with First or Business, sometimes not, but still seem to be in the first ones on the belt.
