I am trying to plan a visit to family between now and some time next year. I need a return flight from Buenos Aires to Melbourne - I have had a look at the Qantas website and it seems that there is a special for US $2200 return between now and November 31st.

I am wondering if there will be another special offer after those dates, some time next year. Is there usually a pattern for buying a cheap fare (I know Christmas time is the most expensive). Trying to decide whether I wait for a cheap fare next year or take the current special valid for travel until November 31st. Do you think there will be a cheaper fare than $2200 return next year?

How does Qantas usually release these specials - is winter time the cheapest time to fly?

Thanks

Hey there Rizzamabob,

I am no expert on Qantas marketing, but in my experience, if you know where you want to travel months in advance, there seems to always be a special eventually (every few months) pretty much on any route.

I suspect that Qantas will have some specials to promote their new SYD-SCL route which starts in March next year.

BTW, what class fare are you booking? I have always found South America to Aus return much cheaper than the other way around. Also, have a play with the Bestflights website. If you plug in a few different travel dates there is usually some very good deals via LAN (many of which are actually codeshare QF flights)

Cheers,
Juddles.

I doubt there will be any specials to Buenos Aires once the flights are stopped.

But you can pick up a EZE-SCL return fare for about $200.

Or you can live dangerously and fly Aerolineas Argentinas all the way

Sure, but its unlikely QF will offer any point to point.
Thanks guys, do we know when Qantas will be stopping the flight from Sydney to Buenos Aires?? I will be flying from Buenos Aires to Melbourne, then return to Buenos Aires all in whY :( Don't have the status or money to go in business yet.
