Hi All. First time post here.
I am currently a bronze tier and looking for Perth to Singapore direct using qantas for early December 2023 but it seems that there is no reward seats available yet post 31st May 2023 and seems to be the same for all Australian Capital cities (ie Sydney to Singapore or Melbourne to Singapore)?
Is it just me being bronze or Qantas just hasn't released it yet? I have checked since May 2022 and no seats show up post May 2023. Quite strange as i thought reward seats normally show up just under 300 days before travel for bronze tier. Any idea when they are going to release it? Thank you!

Welcome to AFF.

You're right December seems bare. I see nothing direct, but do see seats on 1,2 and 5 Dec but on CX via HKG (1st dec is even n J( for 90k points). Not an efficient routing, but it's there.

As we know summer is peak travel demand season so I'm not entirely surprised that reward seats are hard to come by, plus flights from cities like MEL/SYD/BNE are also potentially connecting onewards to LHR or other locations, so more demand of course.

It's definitely not easy unfotunately (but yes, Bronze and Silver tiers have later access to any reward seats than higher tiers which even still lowers the pool available - sorry!)

Thanks Richard! But it's not just for December. Pretty much anything after 31st May is non existent hence i thought if there is any issue with this route. I have checked it since April / May last year so definitely not because i am too late. Seems like Qantas 'lock' this route up to May only for now. Going to Singapore via HK from Perth seems to be last resort since it is quite long

I understand, but what I was saying is that if you've looked since April for dates between say 1 June and say 31 Dec, you're still well behind the advanced window for reward seats because the higher status tiers have had first dibs and even if you've looked since April 1 for flights in December, those hd already been open for redemption for some months already so likely snapped up.

Could there be something else going on? Yes, of course.. but I do think this is part of the puzzle.

I can see JQ PER-MEL-SIN connection for 26k points for a few dates in July.
I can still see lots of CX flights showing up with CR seats available for various dates in September
I see MH avail for PER-KUL-SIN from 24k through most of July and August and into Sep 6-13. Some even showing business class

(I am looking for one pax from PER-SIN, I have not looked in the reverse direction)

and while I have much higher QF status, this is irrelevant for partner rewards, so that's not a status thing.

It is true that yes there is some QF direct up to end of May I can see that. I can't explain why not post then except the above and also QF's Yield Management has decided there's nothing more to release right now unfortunately.

I'd take the MH options to be honest. Yes an extra stop, but at least KUL is very close by andfar better than JQ via MEL/SYD or CX via HKG.

I don;t think this is just PER. It's exceedingly difficult to find QFF flights on Qantas metal between anywhere in Australia and SIN from June onwards. For example in August from MEL-SIN has plenty of JQ seats but can't find any QF seats. Make of that what you will.

Yes i noticed that too hence i found it quite bizarre. Surely the higher tier status members won't snap every single seats for every single day from June onwards as there are still plenty of QF reward seats even from tomorrow onwards to end of May. Finger crossed it is just a matter of Qantas releases it for second half of this year

How many classic reward seats do you think there are on each flight?
Not sure hey. I am personally looking for 3 seats but even when putting as one person, there is still no availability from June onwards.

However between now and End of May, I can easily find between 3-5 seats sometimes in business class!

Not many, but you can still find and book seats up to the end of May but *everything* after then has just gone MIA and it’s been like that for a couple of months now.

Even SYD-CGK was usually showing plenty of availability but nothin post May.

And how many QF FF points are there in circulation?

No, definitely blocked, if it's all Australian ports to Singapore.

Historically (back to 2009, I've been monitoring since then) it has been easy to find seats in economy on at least one or more of SYD/MEL/BNE/PER-SIN during low season months like August (except for August 2020 and 2021 of course). This year, currently nothing. I don't buy that all economy award seats have been snapped already, business, first for sure, but economy no. In if this was true then you'd expect the LAX seats to be snapped up as well, but there seems to be plenty of them available in August.

My gut feel? June/July blocked - peak period definitely. August onwards - wait and see - maybe they'll do a 6 month release on 1 Feb.

But for OP I wouldn't count on December being available at all, due to exodus of students. Take something via KUL, or maybe when Scoot loads up their northern winter timetable - have a look at their evening flight, their ScootPlus product is often not that expensive and is very comfortable for a 5 hr flight (although buyer beware if you need to change, you are stuck with a ticket for SIN-PER, can't cancel or change to another route).

Availability starting to show up from Sydney up to end of Nov! Still nothing from Perth
You got me excited, but a quick search and I’m only seeing those bloody JQ options ex SYD via MEL (they really sh$t me). I’ll take a closer look tomorrow.

What date are you looking for? Random search on 24 Nov comes up with 3 seats for Sydney to Singapore with Qantas

June/July…. They were “alien abducted” months ago. Nothing much - even whY - was released…..

But at least it’s a good sign that stuff is showing up. It’s been pretty dire for any day post end of May.

Pretty classic school holiday times there. Is it during school holidays you want?

I’ve been looking for J flights in June - well before School Hols (but Kings b’day LWE is in play) then back late July (well after school hols).

But there’s been very little up to SIN, CGK, BKK etc for months. I think I started looking close to 12 mths out. There was heaps up to and including May but then dropped off (including whY)….

This is precisely my experience. As a Plat I've called to get seats released weekly and they've failed consistently.

Singapore school holidays at that time of year too, they go from 27 May to 25 June, and Perth/WA is a popular destination.

June/July also see a lot of retirees and semi-retirees travelling to Europe.
