Changes to Qantas FF programme are now online!

New look frequent flyer website too! www.qff.com.au

As expected, anyseat seems ridiculous.

I was expecting the introduction of new partners, but appears that it's just the same as before.

anyseat is a crock! just looked up MEL-LHR J class for next year and it was over 1 million points!!!

Looks like there are some 'bargains' (read glitches) if you are looking to travel on anyseat in the future.

For example, CBR-PER on 2nd September 08 in Business shows QF719 as 188,297 points, but QF872 CBR-SYD then QF581 SYD-PER is only 47,953 points.

Considering the classic rewards page shows the same CBR-SYD-PER trip at 52,000 points (64,000 with taxes) I'd consider the anyseat booking to be a bargain!

Similarly, booking CBR-SYD shows 34,689 points for Y (fully flexible) but only 22,673 for D.

Now to look for bargains CBR-SYD-LAX...

Just did a quote for AnySeat awards, Sydney-Los Angeles-Mexico City is 1,840,449 return in J, and 2,256,404 for F, flying on 24th Dec and return on 7th Jan ....

Amazing Value :p Surely all of us can burn points very quickly ....

We NEED a competition now on who can find the most expensive points requirements for QFF rewards. Should be good fun in the midst of such Qantas enhancements shambles ..... 3 categories: Y, J and F. The redemptions must be based on return journey from Australia to anywhere on Earth, and must be using the lowest available points required on the day that can be booked online .....

Quite a few international flights I have looked at are cheaper in F than J !!

The Jetstar 'Any Seat Awards' engine is working well - "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

QF FFP has been outsourced for Jetstar Any Seat Awards

QF FFP has been outsourced for Jetstar Any Seat Awards:

* Jetstar Any Seat Awards booking service is operated by Carlson Marketing Group (Aust) Pty Ltd trading as Carlson Leisure Travel Service. Licence No 2TA 5778, IATA 02-3 5952 3.

It's great that Qantas has introduced anyseat awards, but the points required are just laughable. Are they using monopoly points, or are they real point amounts they are quoting?

People seem to be concerned that 'classic' awards are going to disappear or be severely reduced. I don't see it happening.

So its pretty much waht we all expected.
Not more not less.
The sky has fallen !:lol::lol:

Re: QF FFP has been outsourced for Jetstar Any Seat Awards

Jetstar Any Seat Awards booking service is operated by Carlson Marketing Group (Aust) Pty Ltd trading as Carlson Leisure Travel Service.

They also run the "Frequent Flyer Store".

13,500 points for most $100 vouchers from various stores. Eg Bob Jane, Myer, Adairs etc. It seems to be actually quite competitive to credit card reward redemptions (if you're on a 1:1 conversion). No scaling discount (so a $1000 voucher seems to be 135,000 points).

Compare to say Commbank rewards, they want 15,200 for the same Bob Jane voucher.

Or an IPOD Nano 8Gb, 39,000 points (qantas) 52,800 points (Commbank).

Perhaps one benefit of these changes will be a huge shakeup in the Loyalty sector.

Did anyone really expect bargains with anyseat redemptions?

I originally thought that possibly 2-3 times more than normal FF points required but by looking as some examples the number of FF points required really is a joke.

I fully expect normal award availability to remain the same as I cannot see anyone redeeming anytime award seats in a hurry....

One thing hasn't changed - there is minimal J availability to LAX next June ;) Although I did manage to find J on an A380 LAX-MEL.

Qantas, if this stays it is a disgrace. All these loyal years you have had from me will terminate from the firm introduction of this plan.

Oh dear Qantas, this is possibly the biggest blunder yet...

Mr!

There are some definate glitches/bargains...

SYD-MEL on Monday morning is pretty expensive (about 52k for a Y ticket). Same with Friday evening return. But if you come back on a Friday morning/day then you can currently get on any flight that Friday morning from 7am onwards and fly in J for 22k points.

At least this will stop people like "Koshie" bleating on Sunrise that he has millions of points and nothing to use them on.

It would be very interesting to get some hard numbers on how many seats are purchased using the Any-Seat Program and if the program ever gets modified because of the low take-up.

And so we shall wait....

Just a quick point of housekeeping. Lets keep this thread for discussion about the program changes, and post about specific redemption rates over in this other thread. I started that thread in the playground, but may move to QFF forum later depending on the direction it takes.

If I redeem for an anyseat reward will I get Frequent Flyer points for the flight? It doesn't seem to be redeemed in a Frequent Flyer bucket, so it should earn points, no?

NB, it could be a good way to get status on AA or some other OneWorld program, especially on some of the rewards where AnySeat is close to the Classic scheme.

Scratch that:
* Points and status credits are not earned on QANTAS/JetStar AnySeat awards

Also, if you want to book a JetSaver Lite fare, you have to pay the 2,500 penalty to book via the Telephone.
