Qantas frequent flyer bag changes

In brief ...

QANTAS is tightening baggage rules and increasing some fees for its most valued customers - its frequent flyers.

''This means all Qantas customers will have a piece limit, as well as a weight limit, applied to their complimentary checked baggage allowances,'' the airline said in a memo to members.

Qantas's schedule of fees was changing to bring them in line with those charged to casual travellers, a spokeswoman said.
Some of the fee changes take effect from December, others from May 4 next year.

Qantas Platinum card members will no longer have "any time" access to the airlines lounges, but must be travelling with Qantas, Jetstar or a oneworld alliance member to access any Qantas lounge.

Previously Platinum members could access the Qantas International Business Lounge or Qantas Club domestic lounge regardless of the airline they were flying with.

The Qantas Frequent Flyer loyalty scheme has more than 7 million members and is Qantas's most lucrative enterprise.
