QANTAS frequent flyer to malaysia

I would like to use Qantas points for trip to Malaysia Langkawi, any one have thoughts?

Best option would be to try and get an award booking Sydney-Kuala Lumpur (on Jetstar) and purchase a domestic flight from KL. Other alternative would be to go on Qantas from Sydney to Singapore and purchase a flight from there instead.

You can book on Air Asia last minute quite cheap from KL (LCCT) to Langkawi. Did that 2 weeks ago for about $200 return the day before we wanted to fly. The flight was only a third full, and a fairly new plane.
