I'm organising a trip to China and will probably go with one of the "group tour" options available. Aparantly the agent books everyone on the tour a Qantas group fare.

Unfortunatley noone can give me a straight answer on frequent flyer points accural or Qantas Club access. Has anyone here done one before? Do Qantas group fares still earn frequent flyer points, and if I'm travelling as a group can I still use the Qantas Club as a Qantas Club (silver) member?

Thanks

When Economy Group fares are arranged with Qantas, I believe they often they end up in G class (or they just end up in regular booking classes depending on the arrangements with the tour operators). G class is an discount economy earning fare class under Qantas.

Qantas Club access doesn't preclude access for any fare class AFAIK. However, I believe Qantas staff on staff travel are not permitted entry. Can't think of any other exclusions, except for the usual ones according to T&Cs (like capacity control / standard of dress / behaviour etc )

Mal,
Rather off topic...
I believe some staff are allowed access, eg Pilots who have flown to a destination are are non-reving on the return sector the next day for example. But these are senior pilots not just general staff so i am sure they have some special arrangements.

On topic...
I have seen people on group booked fares in the QP no problems. It seems they are treated no differently than everybody else except there special ticket arrangments.

I saw the Australian rugby team in the QP once - I assume that they were on some form of group fare...
