Qantas has a minor glitch in their system which benefits the consumer $4.55.

When paying for a Flight using Bpay, then later changing the Flight, which only allows Credit Card, the GST component of the change fee is not charged.

So the change fee is $50 but we as consumers pay $45.45, which is a little confusing as the missing $4.55 is not 10% of $50.

Still just a small interesting piece of information that is somewhat puzzling in the fact that it is there and hasn't been corrected and it works in the favour of consumers so no complaints here.

And now you’ve posted, it will be fixed :p

That error would only come up on Red e-Deal and Super Saver fares I presume.

$4.55 is 10% of the GST-exclusive price, ie. 10% of $45.45

A Qantas Customer Service person informed me of the glitch so staff know.

I think you can change the Higher Cost Fares without penalty so I assume so.
