After checking Qantas online for a fare to the US next year I tried Qantas Holidays on the phone and ended up with a cheaper fare with some accommodation included. Also the payment arrangements are better in that they are spread over some time, i.e. $165 deposit, air component by Feb 2010, final payment 30 day prior to travel.

Is this a common experience? would it be better to always book through Q Holidays?

Cheers

QF Hols will be able to access wholesale fares which incl credits towards land content.

ie $2000.00 airfare incl $200.00 worth of credit to go towards accom/tours/transfers etc.

So if your accomodation costs to total $400.00, your total package will come to $2200, plus taxes of course.

And you get frequent flyer points!

We have used them twice for flights, accommodation, transfers and tours and have found them very competitive on price and never had any dramas.

You are right to an extent, but that's more what the wholesaler itself offers the general public, QFH would obtain wholesale fares from QF which at any particular time may or may not be cheaper than QF direct depending on sales etc., but they don't come from QF with the land inclusion, thats the way the wholesaler markets them to the industry.

It's definitely always worth checking, as you said, there's much more favourable payment terms.

Thanks for sharing that. I had never heard of this.
In saying that, I did book a car for Germany via the QF website (it's a long story) and found it was the cheapest by far.
