Looking for advise here, booked a hotel in HK for my dad who is travelling to europe on a seperate flight to me and I used my $100 PCP voucher + $250 on an old churned card. I just noticed in the booking "This property requires the credit card holder of the card used for payment to present matching identification at check-in. Any other arrangements must be coordinated with the property prior to arrival."

Although this was booked directly with QANTAS Hotels it seems the hotel may require this card to be presented. Has anyone experienced if this is enforced as A) I wont be there and was able to book for someone else and B) That card is long gone however i do have some email evidence of card ownership im sure (statements etc)

Has anyone else experienced this?

In these circumstances. it is often best to contact the hotel. That's the bit that says "Any other arrangements must be coordinated with the property prior to arrival.".

I did actually go through a traumatic time with the offshore Qantas hotels team who contacted the property for me. I will give QANTAS kudos for managing this although dissapointing my money was not "taken" by QANTAS thus avoiding the issue of why the hotel has any access to my credit card.

In the end however a new card only has to be shown for incidentals thus negating the need for the original card

This property requires the credit card holder of the card used for payment to present matching identification at check-in.
Don't you just love how the English language lends itself to varied interpretation? There's nothing stating that the credit card holder is required to physically be in attendance at check-in, so on the face of it, they could achieve the stated requirement remotely via Facetime/Skype call.

That being said, I think oz_mark is on the money. Easiest to simply contact the hotel and avoid any messy situations ;) Personally I think it will be a non-issue as their main concern will simply be that there's a card against which they can charge incidentals.

I use Qantas Hotels all the time (here, UK and Europe) and have not ever been asked for the credit card that I used for payment.

Though not Q hotels, a few years ago, I pre paid for my daughter and her family's accommodation in Bali - we were arriving the day after them and had all stayed several there times before.
As she could not provide said card upon check in, she had to put the accommodation charge on her card and they refunded mine - despite phone call, email and even a fax!
Their point was it was to prevent fraud....
understand, but thought it was a tad extreme.
(Bank of Mum and Dad Flyfrequently paid her credit card that month)
