I have managed to land myself on the A380 from LA to Melbourne in a weeks time. I read on the Qantas site there is no online check in available for international flights, and thus no seat selection. I'm guessing this means it is first in first served (except of course for those with status who get first priority), I am flying in economy and would like to know which seats I should request when I am checking in. I start my trip in Houston, then to LA then to Melbourne. Does this mean I can get my seat selection for the LA > Melb leg when I check in at Houston and thus hopefully the good seats will still be available?

Thanks

if the setaing pre-allocation limit has not been reached, you can phone Qantas up and select a seat for the international flight

Dave

You may already have some allocation.

Plug your details into www.checkmytrip.com to see - youMAY even get a seat map.

Yes, as Dave posts, you can call Qantas and make your request.

If you are travelling on Monday and have no status with QF/oneworld then I do not like your chances:

Wednesday's is somewhat better:

  • R9 F9 A0 J9 C9 D0 I0 W9 T9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q0 O0 X0 E0
(Expert Flyer is not return a WHY seatmap for either day)

Thanks for the info serfty and Dave, I am on the Wednesday flight. Hopefully some decent seats are still left. I logged into checkmytrip, but couldn't find any seat maps. I will give them a call and have a list of good seats ready to roll off. Lets hope one of them is still free

Once 'logged' into C/M/T look to the bottom of the "your flight selection" box for
expand.gif
view details click to see additional information including price, payment and flight special requests

Click the "
expand.gif
view details" and the window will expand and you may see any seat pre-selection there. If you do see a seat number, click that/those and you may get a seat map.

Thanks. I rang Qantas and unfortunately pre-allocation is already "full" Although she asked if I had a preference for window or aisle and she put that down for my booking. Usually I like the window, unless I am on the way back from Bangkok and ate a sasuage roll at the airport. :D
