Can Qantas issue JQ boarding passes ??

I'm looking at travelling to SYD on QF and connecting to SYD-MEL on JQ (JQi service).

Can QF issue the JQ boarding pass?

I thought they could when you connect from QF domestic to a JQi service? Which then raises the question whether SYD-MEL on a JQi flight is considered an "international" flight for this purpose?

Does anyone know?

If they can't, then I think my Flounge access is limited to T-3 hours.

Alternatively, could I use OLCI for the SYD-MEL JQi segment?

Where is Anat0l or Bundy Bear when you need them? They have done this F lounge run recently. I think there is a trip report around somewhere which may answer your questions.

From memory if you do not have checked baggage you can check-in for a Jetstar flight (not that I have ever needed one) in a Qantas Lounge.

Thanks for replying JohnK.

I know you can checkin at the Qantas Club for domestic JQ flights, but I'm not sure whether, for example, the BNE domestic Qantas Club can issue a JQi boarding pass for SYD-MEL.

You would need a "D" domestic orange sticker affixed to it, I don't think the QC has them, but I could be wrong .... it is probably T-3 hours, check with munitalP, he has done MEL-SYD on J*i alot I think!

F Lounge SYD and MEL yesterday and Friday confirmed they cannot issue JQ boarding passes. They apologised and said they 'no longer have the ability' implying they used to. F Kerbside check-in in MEL also said they had no visibility and apologised.

Domestic QP's should still be able to issue Domestic-only JQ BP's, but the JQ30/35-esque flights are not able to be handled by the F/International J lounges.

*edit*
and yes, T-3 hours :)

AFAIK, no Qantas lounge has been able to issue JQi BP's. I believe the BPs for any JQi flight can only be issued at the check-in counters at the originating airport for that flight.

Domestic QP's can issue the shopping docket type JQ domestic BP if you have no checked luggage.

Well I hope this has changed at PER then, as back in October I was told by the dragons that they can not issue JQ BP's. So after getting through the mess that was PER security (haven't seen the new layout yet) and then heading upstairs, I had to go back downstairs and queue for 30 mins. At least they stored my carry-on for me at the QP so I didn't have to clear security with it again - which made for interesting conversation at the check in desk when they wanted to weigh it!
