Re-posting this in the QANTAS sub-forum.

Hello, I am not sure if this is the correct place to post but I am hoping someone might be able to assist.

We flew in on QF6 last Wednesday 2nd August from Rome to Perth and had a connecting flight to Sydney on the same plane. Prior to disembarking the plane to transit at Perth airport, cabin crew advised customers that any duty-free items purchased at Rome airport would need to be left in the overhead lockers as they would not pass the security screening for the flight to Sydney. We stupidly heeded this advice and left a few items onboard and - no surprise here - they were not there when we re-boarded the plane. While going through security prior to re-boarding, I noticed several other passengers had ignored the request and managed to get their duty-free items through.

The customer service manager onboard the connecting QF6 flight suggested that we call QANTAS lost property at Perth airport on 08 9270 9504 and if the items were taken there (potentially by the cleaners) they would be couriered to us. I have called this number several times and cannot get through. I have left several messages.

Would anyone have any intel on how we can get through to lost property to at least check whether or not these items were taken there? Is there another number? I am kicking myself for not listening to my gut and taking the items with me rather than leaving them on the plane. The QANTAS crew made it sound so simple - just call and check!

I have logged a complaint and requested compensation but not surprisingly, the response has been unsatisfactory. Thanks in advance.

I have never heard announcement to leave things on the plane during stop? If just stopping in Perth and not leaving the terminal are you not in a secure section with no further screening?

I thought it was strange as well, given that normally passengers are requested to take all items off the aircraft. All passengers flying to Sydney were re-screened prior to re-boarding the plane.

You could try Qantas's Perth baggage desk, 9270 9433, which from my old notes is open 7am to 9pm daily.
Thanks, I have tried this number several times and receive a recorded message for other numbers I’ve tried.

No numbers supplied work. 08 9270-9433 is always engaged.
I actually left my headphones on flight from Perth to Sydney.
I have lodged an online form with all the details only to received an email back stating that if I lost my credit card, it is my responsibility for any loss. How helpful! NOT.
I have spoken to the Sydney Baggage Services Team - no help. I have left voice messages on two occasions and sent an email. Still nothing - only the reply about a lost credit card.
What needs to happen for someone with level of responsibility for customer care to get personally in touch with me. If they have been found, I can't get in touch with the area where they may be sitting waiting for me to collect them. I am severely frustrated and will let Sydney Baggage Services know all about when I am next at the Sydney Domestic Terminal.

the plane is cleaned in PER and passengers are normally told to take all onboard items with you.

I cannot recall any security screening to get back on to complete domestic leg. You walk down long (narrow) corridor to a t-intersection where left you exit into Perth (baggage claim, immigration) and right you continue to the transit area (check of boarding pass and passport) where you can access the excellent transit lounge or sit in the public area.

Agreed. The ‘help‘ number is constantly engaged!
Tried another number, got a recorded message, with no right of reply.

How did you access the form? I was given an email address by the baggage service but it does not work.

I think all baggage services have been outsourced and the customer service is not what is once was sadly.
