We are both bronze QFF. We will be flying CX economy fromHK to Toronto. Can we access the Qantas lounge in HK?
Award flight could not get a business flight for this leg
Thanks Sue

No sorry. No lounge access with that flight and status level.

Keep an eye out as you get closer to departure. In the couple weeks before departure - right up until the day of travel - CX may release extra business and first class award seats. In fact the day or two before they are usually very generous in releasing quite a lot of seats if the flight isn't too busy.

Anyway, keep a look out for Business awards up until the time of your flight.

For interest, why would you think a non status pax travelling in Y would receive lounge access?

If they did, every pax on the entire aircraft would also receive lounge access (as they are the lowest status pax in the lowest class)...

I'm guessing from the below in the original post that the rest of the itinerary is all business class flights, so they were thinking lounge access applies to the whole award ticket and not individual flights.

Definitely not.

But may be worth checking in the relevant threads to see if other members could guest you in on that date.

Thanks for your reply🙂Well we are using award points for BC around the world fights. All but 2 legs(are in BC and not with Qantas) just asking the question as we have used 560000 points. On these 2 legs we will buy lounge access as other pax do. Stay positive as I try to do and the universe will treat you well😊

Under certain circumstances... if you are connecting same day between oneworld long haul and short haul flights, your class of travel on the long haul determines eligibility for lounge access for the whole day. So if you have a long (5+ hours) and short haul (under 5 hours) connection you may be eligible. The leg you mentioned however is a long haul connecting to long haul, and this isn’t normally covered.

Some airlines have more generous policies if connecting solely on their flights. For example Cathay pacific will often allow you business class lounge access as long as you’ve had a flight in business class with them that day.

i would keep checking your flights to get into the business class cabin. even if one of you can get the seat, grab it, and hope for another one to open. If it doesn’t, and only one of you has business class, it’s still worth if as you can both use business class check in etc. And you never know... one of you might have a cold or something like that and a flat bed will come in handy.

Thanks to all for your replies.

I will keep checking for BC available seats as suggested. Otherwise will appreciate even more our BC legs. Thanks :-)
