Does anyone know what the actual opening hours are currently for the Qantas lounge at LHR in London???

I was going to link a lounge pass to a flight out of London. I looked up the hours on the Qantas website. It says 8am - 9:05pm on the main London Qantas lounge page - here

BUT when I try to link the pass to the flight departing LHR there’s a message that says

Complimentary Lounge Invitations will not be accepted at this time. Current lounge opening hours are: 6:30am to 2.30pm Temporary measures have been put in place in the lounge including capacity restrictions, physical distancing requirements and changes to our food and beverage service offerings.

It looks like I am able to link the pass for that flight. Is the text on the link page just out of date???

If I link it will I get denied entry?

Also is there any benefit to linking passes to flights well in advance? If it’s left until a few days before do you risk not being able to link it, for example if lots of other people have linked passes on that day.

Most likely. I think that's been there since at least April 2022, and I know people who have successfully used passes in that lounge since then.

I don't think you will, but of course I can guarantee anything.

I don't think Qantas' system is that smart - it's not going to turn off because there's an internal quota of linked lounge passes or anything. However, they have been known to disable the whole lounge pass system over school holidays etc. to stop people from linking (or even transferring). So in that sense, it's good to link early. However, if you change your flight it's a pain to get the pass redeposited.

That's certainly out of date, I've been in there recently around 5pm while flying BA out of T3.

The Qantas website seems to be correct, as 9:05pm is the current departure time of QF2 LHR-SIN-SYD. This becomes 8:40pm when the UK ends daylight savings, so it might close a little earlier then.

Edit: Also to note for others using this lounge with status or on a J/F ticket and not flying QF - the downstairs section (restaurant / gin bar) is only open during the 2-3 hours prior to the QF10 and QF2 departures. The upstairs (buffet) section is open all day but nowhere near as good - go next door to Cathay instead.

I'm curious if anyone knows anything more about this but I was reading the Points Hacks review of the Qantas London Lounge and noticed at the bottom they mentioned paid access at £55 for 2 hours or £110 for a day pass which can be purchased regardless of airline.

Has anyone tried this? Do other QF lounges offer paid access at the door or is this just a London thing?

I found a couple of pre-covid articles about it and wonder if other lounges that are quieter like HKG could have a similar setup?

Don't get me wrong £55 is expensive but around the time of QF departures when the gin bar and menu is on offer I could see it being ok value?

As a rule of thumb, they dont do it like that.
If they want, what they is offer you access, via you an access pass, via your upcoming flight booking.
You turning up with credit card wont work.

That is Pointhacks, and not official QF material.
By all means, let see someone try and if they succeed.

They do offer walk-up purchases of lounge access at the QF LHR lounge. It's usually advertised on the screens in the terminal. Below the directions to the QF lounge, it'll say 'paid access available'.

However, it is the only QF lounge in the network that offers it as far as I know. And it is very much capacity dependent. I've seen people get rejected at the entrance even when the electronic sign has said 'paid access available'.

My guess is it's due to the oversupply of oneworld lounges in T3, meaning it can get very quiet outside of the QF2/10 departures.

As for whether it is worth it, if there are two of you, you could buy a seafood platter for two & several glasses of wine at the Caviar House for less than £110, so you'd want to be drinking a lot or making use of other facilities (eg the shower).

Hi! Newbie to this forum, and to flying halfway across the word!
I will be flying business to London later this year. It arrives quite early in the morning, and I won't be able to check in to any accommodation until the afternoon. I have a few questions (they may be silly, so please be kind!!)
I read you can access the qantas lounge when arriving as well, and that you can get a bite to eat and freshen up in a shower. I'm guessing you access the lounge after you have picked up your suitcase and cleared customs.
Is the lounge easy to find after clearing customs?
What do you do with your suitcase in the lounge (do they allow you to bring it in?)
Thank you all very much!

Hi there,
Unfortunately you cannot access the Qantas lounge or indeed any lounge on arrival at London.

American Airlines has an arrivals lounge for their passengers at Terminal 3 and British Airways at Termlnal 5 but neither of these can be used by QF passengers.

You can always try your hotel for an early check-in, but you would probably not get in in any event until after 1000 after the cleaners have started their rounds…

Apart from paying for the hotel for the night before arrival AND advising of your arrival time so they dont give away your room, its a problem we all have. Most hotels will text you when the room is ready usually after lunch but.
I have had 50/50 success with going to the hotel early re check in...
But at least they should store your bags so you can explore without luggage.
If you dont have your transport sorted I would avoid the tube at peak hour with bags, sit in the Terminal and use the free wifi, have a snooze and go after rush hour with bags. If using HEX there is more space for luggage so it doesnt matter as much.
Even if you are tired you can still sit in a park or cafe if the weather is good or go to a Museum/Art Gallery if it is raining. I've even had a quick power nap in some quieter churches.
You should try to get on London time ASAP anyway...easier to say than do.
You wont be the only zombie wandering around London unable to check in.

Is that because they deem QF pax to be ineligible, or some other reason? Many years since I did it, but I think Qantas lands at T3??

QF didn’t renew their contract with AA in early 2020 with the reason given that most pax didn’t use it and instead just took their chauffeur drive into the city.

Then of course they cut the chauffeur service but haven’t seen fit to reinstate the lounge access 🤔
It’s something they absolutely should offer QF1 J/F pax.

Considering QF doesn't have an arrivals lounge at SYD seems silly they would pay for it at LHR (I'm arguing it should be at both, not neither, but if only one, it should be in SYD). I've actually never flown QF to LHR, usually on BA so definitely a fan of the arrivals lounge.

I would go straight to your hotel and get them to store your bags which any half decent hotel will do for free. If it's out of the way there is a place at Paddington Station that will do it but you have to pay.
