Is there a corporate policy regarding music and the volume of music in Qantas lounges? I ask because although in most lounges the music is set to a pleasant, low background level, in recent months the Townsville lounge has had the volume pumped up much louder. It’s not so loud that you can’t talk over it, but certainly too loud to fade into the background. As it is not my choice of music, I find it quite unpleasant after 10-15 minutes. Is there a policy or is music policy just left to the local managers?

Where are the blue meanies when you need them?

I agree. Hiding in the meeting room now to try and get away from it. Supposed to be somewhere to relax in peace and quiet. Maybe it is a ploy as the lounge is way too small and they are trying to prevent people staying in there too long. I have been using this lounge regularly for 25 years and never known it to be so annoying.

I think this might be at the manager's discretion. Sometimes in the Brisbane lounge, it is so loud you can hear it through headphones.

Personally I don't think lounges shouldn't pipe any music in, everyone has devices they can use to listen to music on through earphones. It's a lounge, not a shopping centre or car repair workshop.
