Qantas mainline to fly BNE-WLG, replacing QantasLink flights

From October so I have to suffer erj for several more trips.

Note qf had been pushing connecting pax to the bne flights with significant fare difference connecting at syd or Mel compared with bne.

As a former Wellington resident WLG take offs and landing could be interesting. Many F27 flights.
Getting off topic QF used to fly a B747SP to WLG for a short time ~ 1981
Because of the runway limitations, Qantas introduced two short-bodied Boeing 747SPs on flights between Wellington and Australia in 1981.[74][75][76] Air New Zealand operated DC-8s from Wellington on trans-Tasman routes, but when the planes were retired in 1981[76] none of its other planes were capable of operating international flights from Wellington – Air New Zealand's DC-10s required more runway length than Wellington had available, and twinjet planes such as the Boeing 737-200 were not yet ETOPS-certified.[77]

Ooh, I expect a trip to WLG this year, but I'm not sure it will be as late as Oct. Mum will probably want to fly AirNZ anyway.

I wanted to try the E190 and almost booked BNE-WLG-CHC with WLG-CHC on JQ and the BNE-WLG on the E190 operated by Alliance. I always thought back when VA operated them that the E190s would be perfect for thinner routes like Dunedin or Hamilton but it seems that VA can't make anywhere in NZ work these days except ZQN.

In the end Air NZ ended up being a tad bit cheaper for my BNE-CHC hop but I'll get my international E190 fix later in the year on a Darwin-Singapore flight.
