I am flying QF542 tomorrow with my family (SYD-BNE 5.35pm). The flight is marked as serving a refreshment rather than a meal. I thought (don't know where I got it from) that QF served dinner on flights departing after 5pm. This SYD-BNE service is right in the prime meal timeslot - so why refreshment only?

I am fairly sure it originally had meal service when I booked it, because I remember selecting vegetarian for my wife for each leg of our trip, but I don't have a record of that.

Can anyone confirm what flights are supposed to get meals and why this may have changed?

On a possibly related note, my Tripit entry for when I booked the flight showed a 767, now it is listed as a 737-800. Would an aircraft change also mean no meals?

During non daylight savings periods, evening meal flights between SYD and BNE are those departing from 6pm until 8pm.

This can vary during daylight savings.

When it comes to Qantas Jet aircraft, the operating equipment has little bearing on the meal.

Thanks serfty.

I am used to SYD-ADL flights where we definitely get meals on flights departing after 5pm. I wonder why there is a difference. The SYD-ADL flight is only 1/2 hour longer.
