Do you realise you can buy up to 20,000 points on the Qantas website?
As for the other 30K, perhaps you can get a couple of family members to buy their annual allowance of 20,000 points, and then "family transfer" to you.

Not really allowed because buying points must be "for a specific reward in mind". Kinda bending the rules a bit, but I think we're all guilty of doing that occasionally!

Though admittedly, it's not a particularly great price!
 
17,500 for $195 through the Qantas AMEX...of which 15,000 are credited with ANY purchase.
10,000 for $100 through the ANZ VISA

That gets you 25,000 closer for $295. :)

Come to think of it, do the same for a family member and that is potentially 50,000 points for $590! ;)
