Just received an invite by email to the Qantas Money App, 300 points for signing in. Downloaded and It looks like something that has aspirations of being a PocketBook, Mint or similar. I've been looking for something like this and it'll be interesting to see how it develops and how Qantas use it for marketing. It's already pushing the Qantas premier card on me.

Right now it isn't going to work for me, no HSBC connector.

Mrs Aus ATC received an email invite. Downloaded the app and registered with her details. I don't intend using it, but for 300 points.....

No thanks. 300 points in exchange for all that personal data???

I think I'd trust Qantas with it, but they will sell it through Red Planet and Data Republic to third parties....

Ditto! But I wouldn't trust Qantas with it. Probably not even them, but some contracted IT mob.

Or Amex...

Installed app and logged in. Didn't connect any accounts. Then logged out and deleted the app. No mention of needing to do anything more than that it obtain the 300 points.

Same here, 300 points not worth it.

Similarly skeptical of this. I logged in and used my nab account which has a very low balance and i deposit like $50 every so often so it doesn't close. I just keep it around since its free. i cancelled my nab cards years ago.

All qf is going to learn is i am very poor and don't have the funds to afford their credit card.

Will uninstall once points post.

Only if you actually connect any data!

The email as previously stated just said to download and log in to earn the points. I don't know why anyone would use it in the manner it wants us to.

I received the same email. 300 points for logging in is harmless. I'm not going to connect anything.

Had a read through the T&Cs and one of the sections said something like "By linking your third-party banking accounts with this app, you acknowledge that you may be waiving any protections you may have under the ePayments code for unauthorised transactions, as you are sharing your login information. If in doubt, speak with your bank."

Not the exact wording, but that was the gist.

Downloaded the app and logged in to get my 300 points, but there's no way in hell I'll be supplying them with any personal banking information (in fact, I've already deleted the app)... and after seeing how poorly Qantas Money handles its IT though its Citibank outsourcing re: the Qantas Premier Mastercard, I have zero faith in Qantas Money's ability to handle any information correctly.

Why are people worried about QF taking/selling their details? Did you get a different offer from me or something? All my email said was to download and log in. Nothing about having to link any bank accounts. The only details they got from me were the ones hey already had.

Glad to read this thread. I thought this offer was for the Qantas cash app, which was downloaded and logged into.
Sad that this offer (now that I know it's a different app) is not like to trigger a new earn category and hence get an entry into the draw for the charter flight competition.

+100 on that. There seems to be a view you actually have to use the app which is not what the offer requires.

I don't believe you have to connect any accounts to earn the 300 frequent flyer points. I definitely haven't and when they post, the app will be deleted. If nothing posts, it will be deleted eventually as well.

However it's probably not targeting savvy frequent flyers, no doubt this email campaign will enrich their marketing database no end as many recipients will link their bank accounts and hand over valuable data to QF Loyalty for them to on-sell.

Exactly. I have already deleted the app having given them no information whatsoever. Time will tell if I receive the 300 points.

Exactly what i did.

Yes, i downloaded, logged in and didnt link anything so assume I'm good to pick up the breadcrumb QAN are offering.

Got some text from QAN overnight giving me a Qantas Verification Code. Then it said...Unexpexted text. Call 13 11 31. It was unexpected but as OS on holidays couldn't be fa_ged. Anyone else get this?

Its the dual authentication Qantas are implementing. I was started on the pilot run back in March. I hate it. Have told Qantas I hate it but they are still rolling it out across all accounts.
