Geoff Dixon spoke at an ICAA Business Breakfast this morning here in Perth.


Two interesting points:
  • He said he had received a couple of calls in the last 48 hours about "someone" in trouble. (My guess - Alitalia - although this would hardly be a surprise)
  • He said Qantas would be making an announcement today re WA. (My guess - either more $ on Perth Airport upgrades and/or more regional services).

Qantas to establish pilot base in Perth

National carrier Qantas Airways Ltd will establish a pilot base in Perth in December, adding to its bases in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Qantas chief executive Geoff Dixon said around 80 pilots would be based in Perth for intra-Western Australia and transcontinental flying, to support the airline's recently announced capacity increases.
