I have a return booking here, the outbound is a QF20 departing from BNE international, but the infbound departs and arrives a domestic airport. It is less than 24 hours until the inbound leaves. Why is my online check-in button not showing up? Can I not check in online for the inbound leg?

No On-Line Check-in for international flights, and that includes the domestic leg of an international flight such as your QF20.

which means of course - you can ring the QFF call centre and request your seat. If that was your reason for trying OLCI, just request your seat by phone and check in when you get to the airport.

Oh - BTW - I was on QF20 last Tues/Wed and it was a 25 J Seat config 767, so if you are travelling in J, request one of the A seats which will get you both an isle and a window in the one seat :D.

<edit>PS. You may be limited in what you can select though, as most of the pax coming from MNL will be filling the seats already. </edit>

If you are flying say SYD-MEL on a international, say QF20 (if indeed that goes between the two) do you still need a passport?

If you are a domestic passenger on an international flight you get a Domestic Sticker and hence don't need a passport.

I think leny is actually asking why he can't OLCI for the other segment i.e. the domestic flight departing from the domestic airport, rather than the QF20 domestic segment.

Better people than me will know the answer, but can you OLCI for a fully domestic segment in an itinerary containing an international flight, even if the international flight is fully domestic?

Did that make any sense?!?

I don't believe that you can. I have never been able to do so.

Just a note, [for the sake of anyone doing a search in the future, and ending up at this thread]. You DO NEED an approved photoID, which WILL be checked at both ends of the journey (on a domestic segment only international flight) by federal authorities. Unlike purely domestic, where there are ways to check-in without photoID on some airlines (e.g. OLCI), it is not possible to avoid travelling without photoID domestically, if departing/arriving via an International Terminal in Australia.

And if you are not an Australian citizen (or perhaps its resident, not sure) you must use your passport as ID.
