Here's something you don't see every day! There are currently a smattering of Premium Economy and Business class award seats available from Sydney to Honolulu on QF3/4. For example, here's some availability I found for next month:

Beware of the QF carrier charges though - a return J ticket will cost you 144,000 Qantas points and $571.68. PE costs 108,000 points + $531.68 return.

I’ve been scanning for weeks and they are rare as hens teeth.

QF don't normally release award seats on QF3/4 at all. I suspect there is a blackout on this route. The new availability appears related to the fact QF has just brought the 747 onto the route and now has tons of seats to fill on flights from late August.

Still not available for my date in May. Need 1 seat hnl~Syd, was able to get 2 on FJ, but need seat for me!!
Waiting for a bulla sale

I ended up booking SFO back to Oz. Will have to do the 6 hour flight back to the mainland. We are there for 7 days and it’s MrPs idea to go to Hawaii so he’ll have to cope with it.

I just had a look then and can’t even get past the search function, just keeps cycling. Maybe they are adding?

Ooohhh I wonder if that means I might get an upgrade to business in Sept
I did receive a notification that my flight arrival times had changed.. is that due to change of plane type ?
SYD to Hawaii

Thanks for highlighting Mattg. Nice to see some availability on QF3/4 albeit on older sky slopes courtesy of the old bird. I can’t help but feel that QFF members are still adopting the Australian Tax payer position on this redemption though. Last night they were selling HNL return for $2400 return in business during a flas sale from 4 pm - 12 midnight. If we use a nominal value of QFF points at 1cpp and then addin the taxes/carrier charges, the points redemption cost is almost $2K. And that doesn’t include status credit or points earned. Hardly a bargain, even if you can ever snag on the rarest award seats.

Yes, I got same and had to change seat selection due to change of aircraft (August)

Ouch. That is some terrible value.
