Do you mean an operational upgrade? Or an upgrade which has required points/dollars? I'm sure the former has happened (but not to me), but am equally sure it is quite rare (but not unheard of). The latter would probably require a signficant exchange of points/dollars, in the airline's favour.
At 60,000 points to upgrade from prem economy to business SYD-LHR I think that is a pretty good use of them.

Yes, for a heavily oversold flight to a Chairman's lounge and the odd platinum...not that uncommon. Extremely uncommon/non-existent lower tiers.I have purchased a QF PE ticket to London and i want to know if anyone has been upgraded at check-in to j class when traveling on a purchased PE ticket????
I'm thinking of the Y+ to J upgrade as well. Will buy a Y+ fare and upgrade via points.
Newby question but; if I do that, do I get all the advantages and features of J, as if I had bought a J ticket? Not a QF Club member so doubt I will get in the lounge but are all other perks available?
