Just been told I got platinum status today on status points but FF staff said I need to do 2 return flights to achieve Platinum status on the whole. So my question is what is the quickest, cheapest and easiest way to get 2 return flights - must be qantas and fly out of Perth.

Cheers

PER-KGI return is quite quick, and is probably fairly cheap as award seats, can be done in 2.5-3 hrs return.

Otherwise fit the flights into what you need to do.

You need 4 flights (segments), not necessarily 2 x return flights, as part of the qualification. It looks like you don't fly QF very often. :!:

Well you hit WP in Australia without doing the 4 eligible qantas flights, must be lots of overseas OWE travel.

Can't really help you with Perth options but seems like Geraldton is the cheapest destination.

If booking an award seat it must be an ASA, not Classic.

KGI can be expensive though.. sometimes can be cheaper to fly to ADL..

Sale fares from PER at the moment:

SYD is also $189

Agreed on the pricing going to KGI- JASA from memory was 32000 and $200 return.
Main advantage was it could be done in a couple of hours.
How much would a YASA be if the JASA was 32000?

Welcome to AFF perebere!

Interesting that you attained Platinum status but do not have the required 4 Qantas segments? Are you based overseas?

YASA is 16K plus $$$ (about the same..)

I'd be looking at Geraldton as it is quicker and around $200 return

Yes I fly to China every month business class so that's what's racked up the points - funny my FF card still says bronze.

Anyway cheers for your replies and it sounds like I might take a trip to the Alice to see the rock and or a trip to Canberra to see the national war memorial which are two places I've always wanted to see. I might even see if work can switch some flights from Cathay Pacific to Qantas.

Does anyone know the best and most consistent website to book flights and hotels?

You need the 4 QF sectors for QF platinum. so it will stay bronze til you do.

Just book the fares on the QF website. not sure about the hotels though. generally I book mine through our work TA, but i have booked lastminute.com.au

Yep I've tried lastminute but find it doesn't have some of the best prices and Qantas website has been good, I guess it just luck of the draw....

I book my flights on Qantas.com and my accommodation via either lastminute.com or wotif.com

Welcome AFF

I’ll put in a recommendation for hotelclub.com, often as cheap as wotif.com but you’ll get a percentage back, so always good to check both to see what you can get…

Cheers Sam,

I do have that on my list but haven't checked it right out yet. Good to know others are using the club with good feedback.

Expedia can be good too.. sometimes it's a matter of playing around with each one and going from there.

Also don't discount booking from the hotel directly.

A few of the regular hotels I stay at I ring them directly and they always look after me with an upgrade or if not possible the best price available less a few extra dollars as well as they pay a commission to the booking web sites.

your right Ngale there are a lot of sites to check and the hotels can give good deal as well. I've learned that travelling on Tuesday's to Thursday's are usually good with prices as those are the days when there are less business people on the flights - in Australia.

Hi Simo, I do the same. I always ask for a complimentary upgrade at the usual hotels and sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't, but if you don't ask the answer is always "no".
