Qantas Premier balance transfer issue

Hi all - wondering if anyone else out there has had this experience and has any advice. I already have a Qantas Premier card and recently got a Qantas Amex Ultimate card, and requested a balance transfer to the Qantas Premier card. Amex got back to me and let me know that Qantas Premier rejected the funds. Apparently it’s because it’s issued by Citigroup but Qantas Money also has a stake? It doesn’t seem right that they can just reject a balance transfer from another card. Love to hear from anyone else who knows about this. Thanks

In my experience there have always been restrictions with certain cards not accepting balance transfers from other cards.

Amex has never allowed balance transfers from other Amex cards. Citibank is another.
