Qantas Premier Credit Card

Having this CC as well as the Citi Prestige meant my wish to get the Citi High Flyer 120,000 Virgin Points got coated in unobtainium. They thought 116,000 in credit limits already meant that was their limit. I got told to try again in 6 months time.
One of my partners has already cancelled this card as he couldn’t handle Citibank.

I applied for this card about 6 weeks ago. Gave them everything they asked for but they rejected my application on income criteria.

The mind can only boggle as to how they "choose" some people & "reject" others.

I had a similar experience when I applied for the Jetstar card (before it was points capped). Good stable income, "very good" Veda score, no bad debts listed, just cancelled my Citi Visa Card with a $20K limit ........... and you guessed it, rejected by Macquarie Bank for the Jetstar Card.

In the end I viewed it as my gain (the Jetstar card was later points limited to 2500/month) & their loss.

Looks like they've bumped the points on this one to 75k, fee still $149.

Almost worth it even though apparently a nightmare card.

I’ve had no problems with this card. I got the 60k points when the first statement issued and haven’t had it rejected anywhere.
Just remember no points for any government expenses including rates and rego but they do count to the $3k spend.
I’m just peed off I only got 60k and not 75k.

Yeah just seen that - 75K point for $149 is pretty good I reckon - especially when the min credit limit is only $6k (where the Banks signature cards are $15k).

Cool. Not worried about the ongoing points, but if you can use govt spend to hit bonus I'm in.

I applied for this card on Monday evening.
I have not heard anything back yet, was a little surprised. Does it take long for approval?

Contact them. I've had instances where they were waiting on documents, yet didn't let me know until I called wondering about the delay.

Declined! On a 35k income card. Bizarre.

Even had to call them to get told to send in verification. Dare say if you haven't heard anything you'll be getting a rejection letter in the post.

Bugger me dead. Went and applied at HSBC for the Qantas Platinum instead - conditionally approved pending ID check.

I'm an existing HSBC customer. o_O

I had a call today from overseas operator.
He confirmed my address, mother's maiden name, my previous credit cards etc. I think this is a security check before they then discuss my application.
Wants me to email payslips (3) - I said I had already sent in my ATO statement of account but they want payslips confirming my pay and employment. We will see where this goes.

By the looks of it they didn't even register a credit enquiry before rejecting me. I'm grateful, but huh?

Had the same experience. The reasoning was that I had too many credit enquiries on my file (have churned through Macquarie/ANZ/WBC/HSBC/Amex in the last 12 months). I said I had since closed all of those cards, however they said that they could not see that detail on the credit report, which I said was a failing of the system. Told me to try again in a few months.

Yeah. I found Citi do an internal check first (across their 3-4? branded cards) & you need to pass that first before they do anything else.
That said, they had a data entry issue with my application last month (Virgin HF, not the QF card that was fine!) so if you think it's a rubbish denial & worthwhile card, challenge it.

Cheers. That explains it then. Still have the Virgin card, waiting for the last bonus in 3 days time. Have the HSBC one coming, but if that's all it is, I'll circle back after I've canned the Virgin card and scored the HSBC points.

Card finally approved and card has arrived in the mail.
Now to spend for my bonus points,

I applied for a supplementary QANTAS Premier card for my wife and, somewhat surprisingly, it went through smoothly and quickly. We had the card within a few days.
