I recently had to book accommodation in Mackay, found the same place on the Qantas site at a higher rate than on WOTIF, so I decided to ring and see if it qualified for the price promise offer, 4 ph calls, 45 mins on hold, back and forth to the same operator who was getting frustrated because she wasn't trained in the Price Promise information and trying to get me to someone who did, I asked the questions, the girl was quite annoyed with me for complaining about being on hold for so long and being cut off a couple of times, but I managed to get out of her eventually that yes it would qualify for the price match. I was still a lilttle dubious, but booked it anyway online and submitted the claim, got my response within the 3 days:

Thank you for your recent enquiry in regard to the Hotels at qantas.com - Price Promise promotion.
After assessing your claim, we have found the discrepancy is valid and your claim does qualify for our Price Promise promotion.
Please be advised that you will shortly receive a refund for the difference in price between Qantas.com and the competitor site
In addition to the standard points offered for your hotel booking, please note that an additional 1000 Qantas frequent flyer points will also be provided to you. These additional points will be added to your account within 6-8 weeks after completion of travel.

So patience won out and i'm over 100 better off and i'll get the bonus points after the stay. Just be aware that Qantas subs out the hotel part of the bookings to another company, and they don't seem to be up on the Qantas Price Promise, but if you get them to go to the site and read the conditions, they can answer the questions, mine was I was staying for 3 nights and they had a cheaper rate for a multi night stay, Qantas only had single night stay rates so did that count as an "exact match" answer is YES

Got confirmation of a successful claim today as well.

Booked one night's accommodation through Qantas Holidays; found it a tad cheaper through another aussie hotel website, decided to put in the claim for kicks and got approved. Refunding the difference and get the extra 1,000 points within 6-8 weeks of my booking. One night stay has just turned into nearly 2k points all up between payment, 3pts / $ through hotels and 1k bonus for price promise. Not bad at all!
