Qantas Project Sunrise goes ahead, 12 new A350-1000s ordered

Had a bit of a longer look at the images produced with the QF Sunrise Cabins blurb.

On the outside of the First Suites are these symbols - anyone suggest what they might represent (I appreciate its 'prototype', but someone thought these should be appropriate).

The last one: ?Lock? I'm not aware of any pax suite doors that lock. Maybe its 'Do not disturb' ?
One would assume this indicated to the crew that the seats are locked for TO/TD as normal.

I think its a mistake to not have overhead bins in the middle, not due to airvents i find them useless but so that each seat can have its own bin as they do now.

Otherwise people travelling with babies and todlers usually seated in middle who invariably seem to be rummaging through bins every 20 mins dont wake up the singles sleeping on the window.

Most people are concerned with space in the seat and footwell, not so much overhead once seated.

However this screenshot from Simplyflying suggests the other way round, and possibly the rectangular indentation inside the bucket suggests thats where the handle is situated on the other side?

Yes, but that's BA

Would these be airvents ?:

Possibly, but if so, the ones above the centre seats would be useless.

Yes.

herring-bone
yes but Im referring to the overheads and the link you posted is the same one.

If you look at the World Traveller section the overheads appear to be the same design as the QF renders.

Based on the Simplyflying pictures, I believe this is the overhead bucket:

Small point - they've got the bins' doors with their hinge at the top - again, not optimal as things can drop out, and the capacity is less.

The design of the BA overheads look remarkably similar to the QF render.

I'm a little confused by RooFlyer's description. The bins look like the standard A350 pivot bins that Airbus put on all their A350's? IMO they look a lot nicer then shelf bins, and are rather large. They're designed to fit cabin bags on their sides, and compete well with Boeing's 777 bins.

And the QR 350-1000 bins in J.

Interesting thought.
What is the interior height of the A350 cabin without the overheads?

The QF A380 F cabin centre air vents are similarly useless.
Might have to bring a $20 USB powered portable personal fan.

Hopefully "Sunrise" does not mean warmer more humid environments
Some commentators mention a benefit of higher humidity = dewy skin. I hope that does not mean sweaty.

You can judge the height from drron's pic of QR A350 above. Far too high to blow air into the suite effectively (esp if you are lying down). You can see the singles on the right; they have 2 pers vents each and they sometimes aren't properly aligned with the seat. Last time, one of my vents was marginal and the guy behind me complained of the jet of air coming down on his side.

Pers vents are very important for me - liking things on the cooler side most times and especially when trying to sleep.

It's apparently about 12cm wider (cabin interior) compared with 787.

So each Y seat should be 1.3cm wider than the 787.
I've not seen what Qantas is doing with the A350 economy but I'm assuming the cabin width will be exactly the same as SQ cabin width and those seats are as awful as airline seats can get.

It's not just width that matters. The seats are narrow but already reclined and forcing people to sit back at an angle for long periods is uncomfortable. Seats have to be upright and if you want to recline then you recline a little bit but having seats with recline that then recline further is just dumb.

Forget personal space. It's non existent.

Qantas haven't said what they are doing with premium economy or economy. Need to wait a bit more

I’ve never understood why some people are so obsessed with individual air vents. If the cabin temperature as a whole is overheated, they don’t help in the slightest in my experience.

But then again- I’m a big fan of doors in J class which many others don’t care much for. Everyone’s different.

A350 economy
Well you can guarantee one thing here.
No "independent" reviewer invited by the airline will be asked to do an indepth review of Y

The airline did mention that Y pitch would be 33in. Apart from that, the airline has already stated (by omission) that it does not consider Y passengers to be worthy of considerations for wellbeing and comfort

overheated
Every little bit helps
I have mine always on. Upon boarding, it is always set to full and if the neighbour does not want it, I'll co-opt a 2nd one also at full initially. If cabin temp is not hot then I'll turn it down to half once I'm coooler.

Hot by definition is any temp above 21C

Seats in Y will be in a 3-3-3 config. PE will be 2-4-2. That's about all we know
