If i missed a post (highly likely) Moderators please delete this thread… but I have to announce, to my astonishment, the booze is flowing from 12pm in all domestic Qantas Clubs!

I only found this out, when I decided to be in a QP B4 1pm the other day... Since January my lunchtime flight lounge process had been - anything prior to 1pm, then visit The Lounge (if co-located and easy walking distance of my departure gate)... so the other day, after the usual fabulous DIY sandwich and bubbles input from Virgin, I thought (as I was in T2 SYD) departing from the Qantas Group pier, damn it, i'll head back to the QP, even though it's before 1pm and I won't get a scotch...

Well, low and behold, the closed signs on the bar weren't present, and I must have stood there @ 12.30 looking perplexed, as one of the staff asked "can I help you?" So, having arrived a little tanked from The Lounge I enquired about a scotch @ 12.30, and it was delivered! [I have 2 admit, that some of the best staff Qantas have working for them are their lounge contract staff, but the question "what can I do for you?" is one I normally hear, only in Virgin Lounges.]

Anyway, I was scotch in hand, and back to my table (with a tarmac view), before anyone could say - but it's not 1pm yet!

I havn't seen this yet myself, but if it is nationwide, then it's a nice change.

Once again though, I presume that "The Lounge" having earlier bar opening hours has affected the bar opening hours of the Qantas Club. Thank you Virgin Blue for the competition.

Currently in the Brisbane Pub, arrived around 1230 and the bar was already open.

I was pleasantly surprised by this on Thu at the MEL QP. Amex was also offering free Taittinger for people who apply for their cards but I managed to snag a freebie. :p

Well, I've just missed you ksthommo, pity I was here at 1.15pm and checked out the line at the drinks servery (I'm now sitting just past the servery, on the tall table with laptop).

Boarding now to SYD...

Not that it affects me directly (I don't drink alcohol!) but I noticed that the QP in Brisbane was opening from noon as of Easter Monday.

According to the bar tender at the CBR Qantas Club, the change to noon bar opening was at the beginning of March.

Always drinkies in the International QP's :)
Since 90% of my flying is international then this is a good thing.... also since its international the chance of me driving at either end of the trip.

That must be it... too early, only 1.40 before the flight... But it was a great flight i was well looked after down the back in whY.

(Actually i have been known to be a bit dyslexic, never diagnosed but it was noticed a little when i was young, it never even occured to me this was the case until many years later in my late 20's when speaking to my auntie who was a doctor. Anyway jst shows i should use a spell checker)

Thanks for the heads up Petch; currently sitting in QF Pub in Cairns with a drink and its just gone 12;20pm, never to early for a drink. :p

Open earlier due to its popularity.

Should be open whenever the lounge is open, some of us are shift workers, remember!

Yes, exactly.

Someone please let me know when QF offers barista service all day, every day. Until then, the Lounge still wins, IMO. ;)

I think I'm correct (from reading the sign in the MEL QP) that Barista's are there from 6am to 8 or 9am only. I haven't seen the same signs in the SYD or BNE QP's (not that I'm looking, as I don't drink coffee).

Can't see QF extendig it frankly, so DJ will continue to win your business Yada Yada.

Yes, this would be much more useful to someone like me who doesn't drink but enjoys a good coffee. With Virgin offering all day coffee, I would love it if QANTAS did the same. Not that I think it will make much difference, but I emailed QANTAS Club asking for this.

Yeah, it has to be coming soon. Everyone these days is much more "coffee aware" than in times past so I don't think they will be able to hold out for too long. :)

Syd QP only offers from 6am to 9am.

I would support a 5.30am start to help with the 5 hours to Perth every Monday morning leaving at 6.10am.

So we should all mail QF asking for the same thing :) see if it happens.

I hate morning and i hate the fact tomorrow morning i need to depart Suzhou at 5:30am for my early KA/CX flights back to SIN. I seem to remember a distinct lack of coffee in either the CX or KA lounges @ PVG.

Couldn't hurt - after all, people on here are likely high value QFF members to QANTAS - they might have more sway than the average person!
