Don't believe it's that expensive. It's not a repaint it's just a decal that's stuck on.

They are just stickers - they will easily come off, the 'cost' is miminal considering that is the aircraf that will bring home the athletes from the games and the arrivial in Sydney will be worth every dollar spent.

The A380 is actually over the top for the number of actual athletes representing the country.

It is VH-OJU, one of the refitted 747RRs.

Nice thinking at Mascot....an olympic livery on an aircraft that no longer flies to London...............

VH-OJU Boxing Kangaroo.

Boeing 747-438 VH-OJU, which
positioned Avalon - Sydney on 9th July and has remained hidden since,
emerged today with Boxing Kangaroo decals on the tail and forward fuselage and
“Spirit of the Australian Team”. The aircraft will be used to transport
Australian athletes to the London Olympics on a charter flight. Today the
aircraft re-entered service as QF107 Sydney - Los Angeles.

I find it odd that QF seem to put these special liveries on the 744s and not 380 (afl gf excepted).

Wallabies, Socceroos, F1 and now Olympics. All 744.

Any thought on why? I guess the 744s have been moving through AVV vs the 380s in Germany so maybe they were just the a/c that had sufficient down time for the decal application?

Much bigger area for a decal too… has any airline put one on an A380 yet?
