Qantas reveals special 'Boxing Kangaroo' Olympic livery

Looks like The Red Roo is putting on its boxing gloves for the London Olympics with a new paintjob for one of the 747s, it has a big 'boxing kangaroo' on the side, and even the roo on the tail is wearing boxing gloves! Does anybody know how much it costs to do a stunt like this, to paint a 747?

Don't believe it's that expensive. It's not a repaint it's just a decal that's stuck on.

I haven't actually seen any A380s with decals on them.

They are just stickers - they will easily come off, the 'cost' is miminal considering that is the aircraf that will bring home the athletes from the games and the arrivial in Sydney will be worth every dollar spent.

The A380 is actually over the top for the number of actual athletes representing the country.

I haven't actually seen any A380s with decals on them.

The first will probably be the "Spirit of Australians" name-on-a-plane promotion…

I find it odd that QF seem to put these special liveries on the 744s and not 380 (afl gf excepted).

Wallabies, Socceroos, F1 and now Olympics. All 744.

Any thought on why? I guess the 744s have been moving through AVV vs the 380s in Germany so maybe they were just the a/c that had sufficient down time for the decal application?

Much bigger area for a decal too… has any airline put one on an A380 yet?
