Hi,

Searched through the forum to try find answer to no avail.

For Silver member, is the consensus that seats are made available 323 days out?

If this is roughly correct, im confused as to why, when searching for flights EX SYD > JNB in Sept I get nothing - actually the only redemptions are via partner airlines (in the screenshot all these reward economy seats are via partners)
I don't believe its an overly popular time of year to travel there & Qantas flies its own aircraft there so why would there be no QF availability at all, premium class or other.

Assuming i'm missing something obvious here.

Many thanks

It’s been many years since I’ve been PS so I can’t answer on release date.

But if it helps, as a WP I see availability on a handful of dates that month.

In theory, it still is 323 days for Silver. But Qantas has been restricting some availability to just Gold and above - so even if it hits your window, you won't be able to see any seats.

However, 323 days (and 297 for Bronze) is pretty much only for premium cabins - Economy isn't generally affected

Thanks for that info.

But isn't it strange that there is 0 availability, even in PE, and well within the 323 dats scope..
Almost like if you are not Gold and up you cant redeem higher than economy.

**Edit: I actually just looked at the every month and theres barely any reward seats PE and up at anytime next year... So it really looks like unless you are Gold or up you can only use points for Economy reward seats.
(a few F seats avail in April, so maybe upper cabins only release to Silver much closer to date)

Possibly all taken by SG and WP. 🤷‍♂️

No.

The X number of days out for flight availability has never returned to the reasonably predictable sequence pre COVID.
Gotcha, so seats may become available but you have to wait till much sooner to departure date (and run the risk)?

Seats may become available. But they also may not. The point I was making is that the traditional notion of X day out release isn't the same post COVID. It may never return.

or hope for a "random dump" where they drop up to a year's worth at once. Sometimes pre-publicised.
As noted, the xx days from departure of old where you could reliably expect release are long gone
This is what it seems QF have moved towards - for popular routes, award dumps (think Europe, US, SIN, TYO and BKK). The others get more regular releases, although still not really adhering to the old 353/323/297 rules
